Well we just dumped another $3000 into this. Have some parts in the machine shop now and should be done early next week. We still have some welding to do and sort out other small issues but that shouldn't take too long. We'll do my FD housings first to make sure everything is working good.

the OE new housings have a slightly dull appearance from the machining process as do my resurfaced housings have. whenever you mill chrome it doesn't have a mirror finish anymore.
used/worn housings have a mirror finish because they are worn, it's actually preferrable to have a semi dull finish to retain oil for apex seal lubrication just as it is to have a cross hatch in a cylinder bore to lubricate the rings.

sort of but not as dull. i'm curious as to the hardness level of the chrome used by your processor. unless you peened/blasted it, that would explain the more dull appearance.
this is what the raw machined OE chrome looks like
new OE housings atually look very similar to this.

OK good, follow up question, are you going to be using the same type of chrome or a harder more wear resistant one? sorry if this has already been asked but I am writing this from work so I don't have time to read through the whole thread.

Well all the machining is now done. We've done a mock-up of a pair of housings and all looks really good. Next week we'll get to some welding and round up some other misc parts needed. This thing will be off the ground this month barring any setbacks or problems. Don't for see any problems though as everything is really well designed.

I'll be continuing to check this thread every now and then to see when this becomes available.
