CO Transmission problems.... Again.

Ok, Just today this all happened.... Trying to accelerate in first gear is like trying when the E-brake is on, it just burns clutch. Clutch in the car will not roll unless in neutral, but if I let the clutch out in neutral, it just stalls the car. I can only shift between 1st, neutral and 2nd. 3rd,4th,5th and Reverse I cannot shift into. I am absolutly baffled. My transmission was rebuilt ~3 months ago, to repair 1st gear hub. Any ideas as to what this could be ar greatly apreciated.

Ok, new info.... Neutral gear is Reverse, hence why it stalled when I let the clutch out.

It was working fine before though... Is there any way they could have screwed it up like that? My best guess is a bent shift fork.... Thank you!

Anything can happen. Could of been a bearing not lined up correctly when put back together and it destroyed itself. If you are having trouble getting it in gear, and your sure your clutch is disengaging, than your trans ate itself

but I don't have trouble with getting it into first or second, and neutral gear (between first and second) is reverse. I'm sorry, I am just trying to zone in on the problem as well as I can, I don't mean to be argumentative. Thank you again!

Possible that a gear got ate up and welded itself to another gear and its sticking....or like you said a bent clutch fork, anything is a possibility until it get taken apart

Ya, could be... ok, since I have no clue what is wrong, I'm gonna send it to a shop. problem is, I need to get the transmission out. What are all the weird tools I may need to get it out? Ignore things like a standard soket set, ect. Please and Thank you!

I'd bring them the car and make them take it out, fix it, and put it back in, thats just me though.

If your gonna take it out yourself, basic socket set, 4 jackstands, and a good jack

I will talk to them.. Problem is, I think it was a 90 day warranty, and this happened literally just a few days after that would have passed. Not to mention, it was my Ex's dad who did the work.... But I will try at least.

Alright, just talked to him, it was a year warranty! Thank god. Ya, that dating was really a bit of crap... 2 people with completely different values don't work very long, as I found out! lol Question is.... Lightweight flywheel? its a mostly stock NA with broken 6pi & vdi. Maybe I can get him to fix those too!

Sure you want him too? He already screwed up the trans once, i wouldn't want him touching anything else on the car IMO. unless you trust him, depends on what kind've mechanic he is, reputable, or don't care

Oh oh I think I know this one even though it is covered under warranty it's a very simple fix and happens often to miatas the reverse rail that hits the back up light switch has gone past the switch and gotten stuck.
The fix is buy a new back up switch take the old one off and pry back the bar just inside the hole towards the front of the car, then reinstall the new reverse switch.
I could not find the link to the YouTube video that helped me with this one I will look though. I just thought I would add this for future answers

I am so going to see if that is the issue! Thank you! If it is as simple as that, I will be amazed! He himself didn't mess up the trans, it was the people he sent it to to get rebuilt. He is a pretty good guy, expensive, but doesn't do bad work.

Alright, I just tried it, and it didn't work. there wasn't enough space between the trans tunnel and the trans. :/ Oh well, I'll get it sent to my mechanic and see what he says

It took a little while and a 2" Allen wrench I got with a TV stand or something but if they are pulling the Trans for you and all that it's just easier to let them do it in my opinion

This happened to my trans.. Allen wrench is how I got it too just takes some patience when trans is still in the car...I think it's just a Bad design On the these na/miata trans..
If I got in my rx7 right now and put it in 5th while I'm at a stop it will get stuck in reverse.
