UT no power after engine is warm ( cel )

Hey whats up! New member with a problem, surprising right? Hahah

Heres the scoop, my 2nd gen runs fine until the engine is warm, then it falls pn its face. The check engine comes on, but if I turn the car off and back on the light is gone. I've replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, checked the pump, and everything is fine. Also is there a way to check the codes using a scanner? I have a modis and have the obd1 to obd2 converter.

welcome to the board.

the first thing that comes to mind is you are in limp mode. the MOP is the likely suspect, but from what i understand it's not the only one. pull the codes and see what you it says.

pulling codes is easy, just ground the test connector and read the flashes.

Pulled the codes and got 17 and 27. I need to replace a fuel hose. The previous owner replaced the engine, im guessing due to the mop failing and the engine seizing, but failed to replace the ecu with it. Thanks for the info! Going to ride it out, since im saving for a 13bt.

Also one last question. I have atleast 6 to 10 connectors not hooked up. My fc has all the accessories hooked up and working. Is there a seperate harness for each series??

My wiring harness has extra plugs and nothing to plug into. Im a mechanic and this is the first vehilce I've come across that has extra connections in the engine bay that go nowhere. I know their are differences in the s4 and s5 thats why I was asking. The previous owner was 70 and just knew that he had the engine replaced. Before I read up on the differences I would have done the same since it's the same car with the same engine.

there is various test connectors and some for the electronic suspension for the GXL models. those are likely what you are seeing.

this was actually quite common back in the 80's and most car manufacturers had open plugs in misc places in the engine bay for diagnostics before we had OBDII and canbus communications. in fact you can find them all over the car since the harnesses are universal and fitted for the premium package cars, which also isn't anything new and still common today.
