First try the key..(seriously!)
Then if that doesn't work you are in for a treat.
You have to get the door cards off to get at the locking mechanisms.Usually that means damaging them to take them off.

"Contraption of a repair" level fix: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...le-fix-661051/
"Perfection": 86-92 Door and Window Parts It's a poor design and material choice, but it lasted at least 10-15 years. You can also find them used in the classified section.

I like your thinking!..
If you can't get inside it,Toss a big Friggin engine in it!
By T2 I am assuming a turbo engine(215 hp stock). You can only go UP from there.
..again though that is all covered in great length on Forum.
Think of it as you have now joined the" I Want more Power" Club and members had anticipated questions like this,so in advance they put up Detailed threads on how to do stuff like an N/A to TII engine swap and how to put a Turbo on a N/A Engine( In the FAQ's..look UP at the top of this section..).
By the way,you can get used handles for about 40-50 bucks a set on Forum here if you cruise the classifieds. You are a member..you get that privilege!(well after your post count is sufficient to access the classifieds section.)

Make sure you change the lock cylinder when you get a replacement handle, its a simple, yet tedious task. FYI: the little flaps inside that are designed to keep junk out break and get stuck inside sometimes. You can fix it by pulling the lock cylinder out, taking the face off and tapping it on a hard surface. The pieces will fall out.

If you can get to a salvage yard, you can normally pick up a good used handle fairly cheap. They tend to break in the winter.

Big turbo(s) or V8 swap. How much do you like to tinker? Making big power in the Rotary is definitely doable, but it'll cost you and either increase maintenance or decrease reliability. On the other hand, there's a kit to swap most popular American V8s into The FC that makes your hp goal pretty attainable. I'd hate to see a GTUs go down that route though...

first get what you need at the junk yard and most import, keep it rotory! they can make alot of power with so little mods and a good tuner, i mean this is a rx7 club forum...
v8s fc and fd are for lazy people.. plus it dont look right..

Easiest way (not the best way): TII engine, hybrid turbo upgrade, Rtek ECU chip, upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump, high octane fuel and water/meth injection.
BNR Supercars - Bryan Nickell's Rotary Supercars - Mazda RX-7 2nd Generation (1987-1991)
Rtek7 ECU Upgrade Detailed Information
v8s fc and fd are for people who don't realize that it is a whole lot easier and cheaper to just buy a Camaro or Mustang with the V8 already in it. Some people aren't very bright.

And there goes another GTUs down the drain. Oh well its just a track ready car from the factory. One of the fastest N/A's build. Sporting the 4.33 final drive ratio and shorter 5th gear. Congrats on the purchase. I have both a GTUs n/a and a GTUs converted to a S5 T2. N/A is way way easier to deal with. Plus it doesn't hurt to have a back up FC to drive daily if one of them goes... Let see some teaser pictures please.
