Height Issue FC

Height Issue FC
So I searched around the forum, but couldn't really find a possible solution to this tiny predicament.
I am literally rubbing my head on the roof of the cabin occasionally in my '88 GXL FC. I have the seat as far back as I can go to still reach the pedals and I have my seat tilted back, but I still have my head brushing the top.
Is there a potential solution with some ingenuity with the rail or something else?
And extra note since I noticed some of the other forums bringing it up, I do have the sunroof on my FC, if that matters any.

You'll have to look into an aftermarket seat with a lower rail that sits more flush to the seat OR take your seat off the car and look at how the rail is sitting to the floor of the car.
IT sits on raised cross sections that are about an inch-half off the actual floor of the car.
You can modify the rails/floor pan area/cross section area to sit lower but you would have to think about how you would do that.
Note: the drivers side is pretty well square BUT the passenger side mount is off angle on the floor so If you do this your passenger seat would be higher.(it would take a lot more thinking and perhaps cash to get your passenger and drivers to actually sit equally in the car at the same height.)

I'd say it's less expensive to buy new seats than it is complicated to modify your floor rails.
But then again the stock seats are really comfortable...
Or maybe you can modify the actual seat instead of the car . like remove the rails under it and make some sort of contraption to hold the seats in place.
OR cut the seat cushion in half
Get creative

Wow how tall are you? I'm 6'4" and I've got about 3 inches to spare with the seat all the way back and leaned a bit.
As far as seats goes it's pretty much whatever you feel comfortable with. For a seat mount check out planted, they bolt directly to the floor so the seats as low as possible.

6'1" here and there is really not much space in those cars... I feel your pain...
With some ingenuity, you can fabricate your own seat rails with raw materials from your local hardware (Lowe's/Home Depot, etc.) The only problem is that overall you only gain about 2 to 3 inches! Good luck with your project!

I'm 6'5'' and I love driving my TII, one thing that definitively helped was a momo steering wheel on a nrg hug. This helps with leg clearance greatly and is cheaper than a seat. That being said I'm still too tall for my car. Wearing a helmet makes a very awkward driving experience.

I've had a similar problem when i owned a FB, i just pulled the seat out and removed the rails and welded a square frame for the seat and welded it to the floor on some tabs. It lowered the seat about an inch and a half or so. I don't worry much about looks just functionality. If you are close to richmond and get $20 worth a steel i'll be glad to weld it up for you. When i first posted i thought i saw VA on your profile. When i did mine i did come close to catching my seat on fire a few times
