FD 2nd gear grinding
less than 70K on the trans, but slightly crunchy going into second and a bit less going into third.
How much of a difference will good synthetic oil make?
Thanks!

You didn't say what year.
IIRC, 93's, especially early production 93s, were a little notchy from 1st to 2nd right from the factory. Synthetic would help that some, but didn't it make it go away. I know, I tried.
If it's "crunchy" and if you have similar symptoms from 2nd to 3rd, I start suspecting worn synchros. It's relatively easy and inexpensive to change out the transmission gear oil, but it's not likely to heal the synchros. So not much difference should be expected.

Hi,
Sorry for posting in an old thread but I am having a similar issue to this, hard to get into 2nd, especially when the car is cold.
Did you manage to resolve the issue? My car has a B&M short shift and I wasn't sure if this was causing an issue?
Thanks in advance,
David
