Red face European Lounge: hijack thread!

OK guys, let's face it, we always hijack eachothers threads, cause we have to tell people about things that have nothing to do with the thread.
Personally, I'm just as bad as everyone else. So I thought, well why do we not have a lounge? So we can take a disccussion/story/whatever overthere once we get off the topic... Then the threads will make some more sense. And: we can still talk about all these other things. Cause we ain't gonna quit that are we?
So I invite you: hijack this one, I made it just for that
Overhere we talk about everything, let it be sad (my paintjob taking 8 weeks) or good news (my wife not killing me, although a turbo is on the living room floor for a week now, must put it under the christmas tree! )

And I'd like to invite everyone to at least write one little comment, cause I'd like to know how many we are here on the European forum. It looks like we are being more the last couple of days, yet a lot of you guys have plenty of posts already. Where have you all been???

Let's kick some ***, and prove there is a RX7-scene in Europe too!!!
Greetings,
Bart

I agree with you, i am pretty bad myself when it comes to hijacking. It gets kindda confusing trying to find the thread that you were using, when it doesnt say whats really inside

Yep, that's why I think this would be a good idea. A thread in which you'll NEVER find anything back :-)

I am guilty and it's a good idea. So, I will start.

Hope everyone has a nice Christmas over the holiday's and you get all the car part you wished for (even if the wife refuses to buy car parts)
Happy new year and hope one day we can ALL get together in Denmark....because WE don't have gas money since our car are so exspensive!

Best wishes to all the Euro RX7 members

Oliver

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year guys !

Still having bodyshop troubles Bart? I've got mine booked in for early January and they still havn't bothered to send me a quote ... it amazes me that most bodyshops are like this yet they still make a profit ! the number of places that don't even do a good job amazes me too ! how do they survive ?!

Hm.... The car is STILL there... And the money they ask is slightly over the top. He doesn't have to do much, as we did all the prep work. So he can't have more then a 750 euro bill (that's if they work 8 hours a day, 2 days, and use as much paint as he said) because he didn't start until saturday, and wants it done by tuesday, that's max. 16 hours. Of course it won't be that much, he actually told us 3 hours for spraying, and the repair was only a minor thing. Then comes the fact that he won't pay taxes, so you'd expect him to deduct those. But he simply sees them as extra profit, and asks me 1250 euro, for the job. And he doesn't even think 7.5 weeks is very long!!!
For understanding the money part better: the insurance gave me 1250 euro to repaint about 40% of the car, and buy a new (500euro) rearbumper. I provided the bumper myself, so thought like that's 500 euro saved (that's legal to do, btw). And I did all the prep work, so I thought what he saves on that, he can use on spraying the rest of the car. Very fair deal, as the prep work costs more time (and money) then the actual painting.
However he doesn't see it that way... And I won't even have a decent warranty on the job!!!
So I'm going there tommorow, and see if he started, as promised (doubt it, he's been promising for over 7 weeks). If not, I'll take the car back, and see if I can find another shop to do the work. Might aswell wait untill I managed the engine swap then.... Not sure though, I'll let you guys know tommorow, or tuesday....

This is me in Lindau, Germany. There was a Wankel-exhibition, so we went there in September, when we were staying in Lahr.
I just had to have a pic of me with my future car

Whow nice one this one, would be nice to know who's out there and how we came to be RX7 fans:-)

The name is Bastiaan Olij, come from the shine low lands (Netherlands), plenty of pictures on my website http://mux.speed.planet.nl if you wanne see my ugly face

My introduction to RX7 was through this little japanese cartoon called Initial D. Look it up on the net if you wanne know more, it is really worth looking for!

Bought an RX7-FC with a friend mid 2001 to run it on the Nurburgring. 'friend' ripped me off and eventually another friend joined the hobby. Eventually the RX7 met one of the guardrails and that ended that.

Been looking out for a first gen ever since but have to sell my 944 before I can get back to driving these fun cars.

My love for the rotary only comes second to my girl and my Delorean:-) (or is that third then?)

Rotary Emotions, good luck with that painter guy!

OK, I'll tell something about myself then too.
I'm from Flanders, Belgium. Been in love with the RX7 since I was about 7 years old. I'm now 25 (26 next month) Although car mecanic from education, I am a traindriver right now. The RX7 has had major influence on my life, and most of my house is Wankel-dedicated.
Dreams include building a replica of the 787B, but right now, I'd just like my Mariah back...
I have owned several Sevens (84, 80, 82, 86) and even an FD, but only a week (bought it to sell to my friend).
Right now the 82 Mariah and the 86 are left, but the 86 is taken apart for parts.
What I'd really lik to do is meet up with all you guys, and have a good chat about RX's and a nice ride with the cars. I'm always on my own overhere... Not one of the guys I know who have sevens drive them....yet.

Damn you Kim for staring with the photo's

Here is a photo back in 1999 when I got my FD and later attended the SevenStock 2 in southern California. My dream in 2003 is to see at least this many FD's plus other models in Europe. I will write a short version of my RX7 affair later......Dinner is on the table.

Let's hear from some of the Swedish members?

A little about me:
My name is Kim Nielsen, Im 25 years old, i live in denmark right across the street from Oliver(OC94Rx7), who got me into rx-7s with all his talking about them for the six years that we worked together
I live on my own in my own appartment, which is good when you need to buy parts(no bitching)
This is my first seven but not the last, Oliver got me hooked up with it from a guy in the danish rxclub. It have had allmost all the diseases that you can read about in the 2nd gen specific forum, but i dont care because i love driving it. my next mod will be an on/off button instead of the accelerator J/K

Ok guys, got the Mariah back home... She's in the garage right now, just the way I left here at the body/paintshop. NOTHING done in 7.5 weeks... Even the minor repair wasn't done. So now I have to find another shop, which might be a bit of a problem...
Since I'm not sure if I will get the new engine on time, I'm not really sure about next steps taken. If the engine isn't here before, let's say mid-januar, I might decide to finish the bodywork first, but obviously, now she's back, I'd prefer doing the engine swap first. My RX7 projects (just like most of my life) seems to be very much going up-and-down. So, I'll have to pray the rotary gods for some help, so I get the car done before june...
Greetings,
Bart
PS: at least I was able to locate almost every part needed (TII complete intake, TII everything...) for cheap prices...

This it gonna be long...sorry...I'm a old guy

My first introduction of the Rx7 way back in the early 80's. 12 hours of Sebring. I went to the 24 hrs of Daytona the following year and Sebring again. At that time, Florida for me was the best place in the world if you love racing. The Rotary bug finally hit my wallet when I was 19. I got a spanking new 1983 gs and I was hooked 3 years later and little over 70,000 miles I sold it. It never missed a beat and the only thing I had to fix was a rear bearing.

Met a pretty girl from Denmark who made me forget ALL about RX7's.

It wasn't until the 3rd Gen. returned the passion did as well. We all know they were not cheap. So, many years later (1999) Before moving to Denmark I bought a 1994 FD while living in Califorina. I have slowly purchased upgrades over the years and plan to have this one for a long time.

I am 39 years old with 2 crazy little boys I love to death. They are in my avatar. Not being young has it's good side. Here are some photo's of the early days (me, 7's racing, and of course girls)

see ya after christmas
