upgrade before tuning
i'm purchasing a lot of mods for my car... among them are a new intake, dp, cat-back and PFC. i know that i can put on the dp and the cat-back and not have to get the car tuned yet but when i add the intake, i have to have it tuned. i don't want to pay for the car getting tuned twice... so my "plan" is to put on the dp and cat-back ASAP and hold off on the intake until the day before i am supposed to get it tuned. i will have to drive about 60 miles or so to get it tuned. if i keep the rpms down really low, like below 3k the whole way there, will my engine be ok?
am i right about the dp/cat-back no tune needed?

Engine should be fine for the trip as long as you stay out of the boost as much as possible. Definitely no full throttle runs or anything like that. Intakes are easy enough that you could actually drive to the shop thats tuning it, and put it on there. Just get there like 2 hours early to make sure you'll have enough time.

911 GT2, i've just not had a chance to look at what all is involved to install my intake as it hasn't arrived yet. that thought had crossed my mind and its probably alot smarter way to go about things... thanks
formerporscheguy, the boost controller is covered witht he PFC like AMRAAM said, but until i have it installed and tuned, i had just planned on staying out of the boost area all together.

The intake is simple, like 911GT2 said. In a perfect world a boost controller is no doubt a good assurance, but Dee will tune your car safe enough for the driving you tend to do.

i might put on a manual boost controller eventually... later this year (late summer/early fall) i hope to be able to purchase the most important of all reliability upgrades, a daily driver at which point in time the RX will be reserved for sunny days and spirited driving.
