here is a link to related topic, thought it was interesting.
Still need the number that defines the step in the flywheel.
I cant find a number anywhere I look, anybody have an idea what it should be so when I take it in, the people that are going to cut it have a good number to go off of instead of guessing what it should be?
I know someone has to have run into this problem when resurfacing the flywheel.

you mean surface both the friction surface and the PP face right?
Because the way I was told that they had to be both cut , and that the step where the PP sits and the friction surface needs to be right in order for it to engage properly.
I cant see why it is so critical seeing as the parts are moving, and it would only mean a little less or more throw depending on how it was ground if it was off by a little.
But I would rather have the correct number to feel better about doing it.

If your mechine shop knows what there doing then you dont have to worry about the step. I turn flywheels everyday and the instant our mechine toutches the flywheel it mesures how much is taken off. Then you simply take that much off the pressure plate mounting pads. But I would like to know a exact # to have a reference. My DSM's need a step of 0.610", +/- 0.002

I cant remember what the step was measured at, but the one I used and another guy got independently was posted on a different thread. It still baffles me that no one had an answer right off the bat, nor could I find any reference to the number recommended anywhere.
