Need pics of midpipe mounted

Anyone have pictures of a regular midpipe mounted on their car? I need this because I have a magnaflow muffler that's mounted on my rx7 but im not happy with how it's sitting (against the side of the tunnel). So what I want to do is buy a midpipe and cut the middle part out and weld in the magnaflow. I would liek to see if it runs directly in the center of the tunnel and if what I want to do would work...

There should be no rubbing against the body. That doesn't make sense.

Do you have a hanger (or bracket) on both sides of the muffler canister (near the tip)? Or do you only have an exhaust hanger on ONE side of the muffler canister?

The Racing Beat cat-back,...the muffler part...has an exhaust hanger on the left side (driver's side) of the canister. It ALSO has a bracket which retains the use of the OEM exhaust hanger on the right side (passenger side) on the car. We found this out the hard way.

See if your Magnaflow muffler is the same.

Without the OEM exhaust hanger...the muffler was unable to be mounted properly...and thus...would've rubbed much like the situation you described above.

I replaced the stock cat with a magnaflow and the exhaust shop that did it did a crappy job on the piping so it is up agaisnt the side of the tunnel...

That's not the point. I need to know if the downpipe runs straight in the middle of the tunnel.

Why don't you get the muffler fixed properly? That'll eliminate having to modify any parts to "fix" your current problem.

That's what I'm doing. I want to fix the piping that was done by the exhaust shop but want to do it myself.. and if i can use a midpipe and cut way part of the midpipe piping and weld my magnaflow in there that would make it much easier since the bends would be done already.

I guess I don't see what you are needing then. If you get a midpipe, it will already have the correct bends. So, all you need to do is to figure out where on the midpipe you want to put the Magnaflow. I don't see why you need pictures for this as it should be straight forward.

Also, you could have just bought the RX7Store's resonated midpipe as that's all it is (i.e. midpipe and magnaflow muffler) and been done.

Yea I should have gotten the RX7Store but too late now. Reason that i'm asking for pictures is because the muffler is pretty big so if the midpipe does not run exactly center of the tunnel designed for the cat then I will still have the same problem. Do you see what im saying? I just wnat to make sure the midpipe runs exactly in the center.

I understand what you are asking, but if there is already a midpipe with a magnaflow muffler combo out there; then it must fit. The pipes will follow the stock path.

If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit . Sorry, just had to.

I know it will fit. You're still not understanding what i'm saying. A midpipe does not HAVE to be made to travel directly in the center of the tunnel. This is because it's just a single pipe unlike a big wide muffler. Now if the midpipe does run directly in the center of the tunnel then sure no problem it wll fit like a glove. Thats what im trying to figure out.

So either your muffler is not mounted correctly or the shop botched the piping that leads into your muffler. Is that what is going on?

I think you are missing the point.

People have been doing this sort of thing for years. So, it's not really a queston of how the midpipe is routed. The real question is whether or not the magnaflow muffler you bought will fit with any pipe under the car.

To know for sure, you need to buy a midpipe and spec it out with your muffler. Magnaflow makes many different mufflers with many different sizes. It's quite possible the one you have will have a problem with a midpipe as well, but you really aren't going to be able to tell from just a picture. You really need to mock it up with a midpipe and see (i.e. get the midpipe, install it and then see where your muffler could fit inline).

People... you're making this difficult for no reason... all i wanted was a picture.

I already konw the muffler is the correct size, its actually the same size as the rx7 store one.

Yes like I said earlier the piping is messed up not the muffler, not anythign else.. yes the piping that goes form the downpipe to the cat back piping. Yes....
