That's for an FC. The FD tranny is a bit different. From http://robrobinette.com/how_to_misc2.htm

Now for the transmission, there are two drain plugs, one fill plug and one plug that you don't touch. First remove the sheet aluminum cover and set it aside. On the bottom of the transmission case is an obvious big drain plug. The other three plugs are on the driver's side of the transmission. The highest one has a recessed square socket don't touch it. Approximately below it is a plug with a protruding square socket, this is the fill plug. Behind and a little below the fill plug is another protruding square socket plug, this is the second drain plug. Remove the fill plug then the big drain plug let the oil run out. Then remove the second drain plug. You remove the fill plug first other wise the oil "plops" out everywhere except in your drain pan (you did remember to put a pan under the drain plug .To fill the trans put the new washer on the big drain plug and the sealant on the second drain plug and put them back in. Stuff the funnel in one end of the hose and ~3" of the hose in the fill hole (it just barely fits) stand up next to the car while holding the funnel and slowly pour in the oil until it just starts to spill out.

It's not that hard but can be a little messy. The Factory Service Manual (now searchable) is the only source you should really need. Page A-17.
I've changed mine twice and haven't had any problems with re-using the washers. You might be tempted to get above the fill hole by going through the shifter tunnel hole. I wouldn't. Any spills in your interior would not be good and the fluid, especially the synthetics, smell like ***. Get an in-expensive fluid pump. Various options but most don't cost that much. Teflon tape for the plug threads.
Most here use synthetic fluid, NEO, REDLINE or ROYAL PURPLE are popular.

FWIW, I use a tube (actually its 2 tubes; a smaller fuel hose line into the tranny, then it goes into a larger heater hose) up into the engine bay and then attach a funnel. The funnel rests between the master cylinder and the elbow and all I have to do is pour.

This works well - it's how I do it. As for not getting oil on the floor, I think this method is as manageable or even better than homemade pumps that will spurt oil spray if they leak.

But never use cold oil. Get it at least 80degrees or so, so it will pour easily through the tube. Last time I did it, I put the oil in the passenger footwell while the heater was running. That got it a bit warmer than room temperature, enough that it poured readily.
