I'm going to be buying an intake here in the next couple of days and I'm thinking I might go with Fighter's Garage CAI that Dale recommends. It's the third down on the page. Link. Has anybody tried this one yet? Any reviews?

That thing is just a copy of pettit's intake. Modify your stock box like all the cool kids. Its equally if not more effective and 1/3 the price.

The only way you would really get a cold air intake would be by a box type intake. Like a m2 (if they still had them) box. Even then it wouldnt be that much more effective than your stock intake box.

Many people have the pettit intakes which is exactly like the fighter intake your looking at and no one has complained about them(as far as i know). As long as its not a mushroom type then i would use them.

The kit was designed with my input. I wanted an intake that used quality hard pipes with real bead-rolled ends, had a good hookup for the air pump, and didn't have a lot of crazy plumbing. And all for a fair price. That's that intake .

Pettit uses a crazy mess of plumbing to silence the air pump moo, as does some other kits. The Fighters kit uses my simple anti-moo rubber cap that I came up with. It also has a nice fitting and hose to hook the air pump up so it gets a good filtered air feed.

The ends on the pipes are all bead rolled with a real bead forming tool, and the air pump hookup is bead rolled as well. The filters are real K&N filters for the best filtering capability.

IMHO, cold air intakes are WAY overrated on a turbo car. Shield hot air away from the intake and let the intercooler do the work.

I can appreciate the airbox type designs, but it's such a pain to pull the stock airbox and some of the aftermarket airboxes to work on the car, and you end up pulling the intake to do most anything on the car.

Anyhow, it's a great intake for a fair price.

I got it and I like it alot. One thing I would have liked would have been for both tubes to have couplers instead of one re-using the stock one.

I know he considered including another coupler for the secondary turbo pipe, but he was trying to keep costs reasonable - I don't think he's making a lot on those intake kits. I actually like the stock coupler there - has grooves that hold the hose clamps in place.

Just installed this over the weekend. Looks great, and pretty happy with it.

A note on the install: I had to drill a hole into the heat shield because of the coolant reservoir line.

Anybody have thoughts on how to create an air duct for this, possibly by channeling some cooler air through the front bumper openings? Or will this be futile, since it is essentially an "open air" intake?

Also, can anyone recommend which K&N filter (model type, part number?) would fit best on the CRV and ABV, as they now vent openly?

I have the Fighters Garage CAI kit and I like it. The kit opens up the engine bay nicely. I only have two minor issues:

1. The top filter rubs against the hood slightly, I haven't tried rotating the pipe slightly to see if that clears more space yet. I still have the air pump connected so that may limit how much I can adjust.

2. Mine didn't come with the Fighters Garage logo on the pipe.

I let the CRV and ABV vent to the atmosphere and was planning to get filters for them but I've grown to like the sound. Very juvenile, I know.

I installed mine over the winter, and love it now that the cars outta the garage. The engine bay looks much cleaner/clearer without that horrid box in there.

As above, mine didn't come with the fighters garage logo on it either, but it makes no matter to me.

I like the re-use of the secondary turbo coupling...once you get it free from the original airbox pipiping.

Never had any issues with hood clearance even with the air pump connected.

I also really like that the piece to fix the "mooing" from the air pump was included with the kit

I have it also and it is a nice piece for the price. It flows better than the box but the temps are a little higher but with a good intercooler and or aux injection you dont need to worry about it. Mine did not have the sticker also don't think it is supposed to be on it.

I have this intake and love it. Looks nice, good quality and easy to work with. I modded the heat shield a little to get some air from the buttom. After I took this pic, I used metal tape to seal off the gaps by the radiator. I would def recomend this intake.
