Fan/Feul Line Recall - What gives????

Hi,

A few years back I got my 94 rx recalls done. The fuel line recall that allows the fans to come on after the engine is shut off is one of them.

Here is what I thought this recall would do.

When I come back from finishing a long or hard drive and they fans are running, when I turn the car off, the fans will keep running, makes sense right?

Well they dont keep running. Fans still just shut off when I turn the car off. Now If I turn the key 2 clicks just before the start position, the fans come back on. If the fans come back on, isnt one to assume that they are coming on for a reason? because something is too hot? If I turn the key back 2 clicks and pull it out, the fans go off again. Now, if I turn the key back again 2 clicks to just before the start position, the fans go on again, if I now let the fans run for 2 minutes before taking the key out, they will continue to run for 10 minutes....very odd.

Mazda says the fans will only go on if the fluids reach a certain temperature after engine shut off. If that is the case, then why do the fans fire up immediatly when I put the keys back in and turn 2 clicks before the start position? this makes no sense to me. If the fan is running when I pull into my garage, it should keep running after I shut the car off, bottom line.

I have yet to see the fans ever turn on after shutting down my car unless I stick the key back in and turn 2 ckicks.

So, 2 questions, what is this fan stuff so messed? is there a way around this to just have the fans stay on for 10 minutes EVERY TIME i shut the car off?

Thanks as always,

RXJoey

Your car is operating exactly how it is supposed to. If you want the fans to run after shutdown, do the "fan mod". This is explained in great detail through either the search function or by going to the sites in the newbie sticky/FAQ.
