Anyone install a shift light in their fd?
My tach is totally dead for some reason I can't figure out. I'm unable to drivethe car as hard as I used to because I'm hesitant to over rev the motor.
I thought I f I installed a mini shift light, it would be a good way to prevent me from over-revving.
How does something like this get installled and if my tach is dead, is it still possible?
Thanks,
Ian

get i Pivot shift light. It's a small White or Blue Led that you can mount anywhere. I haven't had any experience with one but it is used on the MCR Skyline that you see racing the RE-Amemiya FD in the touge battle. I think this keeps it from not being very ricer if that's what you are worried about

Just to toss this out there... Does anyone know if its possible to configure the CEL or some other warning light to flash when you reach your rev limit? A friend of mine who recently sold his Civic Hatchback 92 I think? Had his CEL setup like that. Apparently its some Honda DIY trick. Figured I would ask if there was a similar "trick" for our FDs? No flamers please. It's a simple question.

When people say something like this the entire true FD communtity feels a weakening in "The Force".
As for a non-smartass comment, WOW is all I got.

I have the Pivot Pro which works with the cigarette lighter for power and needs the tach to be set. There is an option to hard wire it but I don't see how you could set it without the tach. I also have a 52mm tach I was going to install in a tri-power but I don't know if those will ever be made again.

you people need to grow up. Different people have different needs in their cars and you should respect that. Saying "no disrespect" doesn't grant one the right to indeed disrespect.

I have a 52mm tack and a a-pillar gauge pod if you want to buy it but you may still want to attach a seperate shift light. You could also check out Prosport gauges, assuming they have a tach. The are 1/4 to 1/2 the cost of Defi and have a warning light option.

I don't know a whole lot about FD wiring yet, but I would imagine that if your gauge cluster is having a hard time getting the tach signal, then so would an aftermarket tach... unless you totally bypass stock wiring.
As far as installing a second gauge cluster... used parts are usually just as fucked up as the part you took off. So, don't let the fact that you replaced the cluster mislead you, nor the fact that your wallet is thinner.
People are giving you **** because this is going to be a bandaid fix... most of us are OCD as **** and can't stand this kind of thing.

Its very easy, 3 wires, 1#12v constant 2#ground 3#goes to either your negative standard ignition coil or your tach terminal on your ecu, if you want i can tell you what pin and color wire that it uses, cant recall at the moment.
