So my engine oil cooler came loose and fell and then it dragged on the ground. I can't find an oem replacement anywhere in town. All the auto parts have is a "universal" one. Just wondering if something like this will provide the same cooling features as the oem one. Thanks.

better you find a used OEM unit, should be plenty of them out there.

Well the bracket that holds it on is held together with what looks like some sort of rvt or silicone. It just wore out from old age I guess. I can't wait for one to be mailed cuz my work situation. I posted a wanted ad in the classifieds if anything.

I feel your pain... It took me about a week and a half to find one locally.

Did it completely damage the oil cooler? If not... You could always fabricate some sort of bracket. Even bailing wire would work temporarily.

I have a 9 row, something like 11x10 and it is not quite enough, but if you are in a bind and need transport one like it will get you buy until you can find a replacement, just easy on the foot feed and watch your oil temp.

Yes keep the bypass valve to let your oil heat up to the t-stat temp. the way mine is going to be routed is; from the pump to the s4 cooler then to the beehive bypass ( beehive will also bypass until oil comes up to temp.valve, that will allow the s4 cooler to have first chance and then the beehive. a lot for me will depend on how well i can control water temp.

^ The reason why I asked if you kept yours is because I've not seen anyone use an aftermarket oil cooler as a direct replacement for the stock unit, while being able to utilize the oil bypass valve.

I've only seen pictures of dual aftermarket oil cooler set-ups.

I use this on my FB race car w/o a bypass and it keeps the temp to about 220 in July.

That looks pretty darn nice id like to see if it's equal to or better than stock, price point is pretty good to. On topic when I asked I was told stock is the best in fact I run a FC oil cooler on my 1st gen 12a and it runs max 160*F in 90*+ temps.

Looking straight at the oil cooler as though it is mounted on the car, the oil cooler bypass valve is on the bottom right of the oil cooler. A 29mm socket or wrench can be used to remove it.

Scroll down near the bottom (2-16) to view the oil cooler and associated components. You'll see a picture of the oil cooler bypass valve in the second illustration on that particular page.
