mine probably wouldnt' be considered beat up by most of you, but she's got her flaws

84' GS with just under 58K on it. second hand paint job was done a bit shoddy and is coming off all over the car now. anyway, working on a rough idle issue at the moment and not exactly sure whats up with it right now, but after that i've got a steering box to replace, then onto wheels and shocks....its a long road

I also have a second set of OE mazda wheels like these i'm not using if anyone is looking for them

I've had four 1st Gens and one 2nd.

My first was an '82 GS that was maroon-ish, don't have any pictures of her anymore.
My second was the fabled '79 battlewagon. A mix of silver, rust, primer and dirt, I think I washed it twice during the 9 years I owned that car. It was my autocross mule and summer-fun-time car and I miss it terribly. Should have never have sold her.

Racing Beat springs and front bar, Tokico Blues, triangulated strut brace, custom Borla exhaust, four-spoke Revolutions in 13x7, rubber VW flares from a Golf, a succession of 12as (I think I went through three of them,) twin DCD36 carbs and possibly the most half-assed Holley fuel pump install...in the world

There was a Spark Yellow '79 in there too, but she only lasted a week before I flipped her to someone with time to fix stuff. And the 2nd Gen... a '90 GX with a blown engine that someone sold me under, shall we say, false pretences. I toyed with the notion of buying a new engine but instead it sat on my Dad's driveway for six months before he had enough and sold it to a kid for $200 and kept the proceeds as 'driveway rent.' Rightly so.

And now, my '81 in Stardust Blue. Plenty of scrapes, blemishes and little knicks of rust here and there but she pulls strong, sounds great and never lets me down.

That's what I love about my FB also, it's old with a ton of original miles (330k) but is still a very solid car. Even, as much as, i'm absolutely in love with my FD the 1st gen just feels like a more well built car.

I can't imagine not having either one

Sure it looks all shiny and pretty, but up close there is a lot of duct tape and bondo, repairs done on the fly.
Point is that formula 1 tunnel race boats, like our cars have it where it counts. The race teams are busy rebuilding outboard race engines, and optimizing setups for the next race. Or a self confident hot chick chooses a man with character over a fashion model man. Hence, keeping a car all bright smooth and shiny while neglecting the mechanics is limp wristed.

unpainted shiny factory wheels remind me of this: -"looks too much muscle car", fast and furious, but I like the muscle car look

Came home on a Saturday morning only to find some drunk smashed my windshield with a brick. Props to living 2 blocks from the bars in a college town
