Black Dragon is calling it quits?
I got an email from them a few days ago indicating that they are done at the end of the year. I have only bought a few things from them but they were prompt to ship and I had no complaints. Will be a shame to lose another parts resource. They indicate that they have lowered the prices on the remaining inventory. I have a few things I would like so if they have them I will get them.

I saw this the other night on a FB group page post. Yesterday I took some time to check out the discount, but I didn't see anything. I went so far as to place items in the cart, but no dice. Maybe what I need isn't discounted?
At any rate, this really sucks. I was hoping I could get new badges, door seals, bolts to replace rusted ones, etc. - lots of little things - from BD, but everything I threw into a cart online yesterday quickly escalated beyond my budget. Was planning on sourcing those items from BD, but not all at once. Now? Who knows where...
I wish it were different. Another source going by the wayside. Hope we don't lose any others, but I'm sure we will eventually.

You guys didn't look too close then... while SOME stuff is still too-much $$, other things are almost FREE:
-SA clutch slaves: $5
-door weather strip (Glen!): $19
-window regulator (OE part!): $10. These were $120+ (vs will you ever need one? At $10, who cares?)
-etc. etc.
most of the catalogue is aftermarket parts, but that isn't a bad thing. At the right price.
The catalogue is laid out as-per-normal (ie no "SALE!" bulletins), but some prices are seriously cheap, others a great deal, still others...meh, no-so-much. I dropped $200 on a spree for stuff I would have done without at the regular prices.
That said, it is sad that BlkDragon is closing out the Japcar Parts support. Guess there is still $$ in BritSports and Trucks tho for them...

My biggest complaint with Black Dragon was that they never specified whether the part they had was OEM or aftermarket - and in many cases their aftermarket stuff was more expensive than OEM if sourced elsewhere. I gave up on them years ago. Still though it's a shame to lose a parts supplier either way. One thing I did notice when looking a few days ago (after also seeing they were closing on Facebook) is they have GSL-SE rear calipers listed, and for a decent price. Those are nearly impossible to find, might be worth looking into!
Most of the rubber (door seals, hatch seal etc) is still available from Mazda, at least it was as recently as last year when I replaced a bunch of it on one of mine. Go on www.foxed.ca and get the part numbers from the parts manuals and then go to one of the various online parts sellers (onlinemazdaparts.com is where I got my last order from iirc). Most of those sites won't list stuff for our cars but can easily get it.
Parts are getting hard to find for these cars, but not impossible just yet. Stock up while you can!

Some of it is very hit or miss, like they were able to get me one interior door handle but not the other, and stuff like that, but overall the body "maintenance" type parts, like rubber seals, window regulators, even those little plastic clips that the cowl plate slides into seem to be pretty abundant. For now at least... I'm sure supply will dry up eventually. I'd buy it all if I had the spare cash and space to store it all!

How are their door/window seals/etc in terms of quality? Might be a good way to cut a significant amount of my restoration cost down if they're decent parts... That is, if they aren't NLA already.

I went through their internet site all happy about getting tings for a steal. Window regulators =$10 check, they are chinese knock offs. Many many things I wanted were out of stock. Hydraulics for example. And brake lines.
I was tempted to buy their entire inventory of window regulators. But I've only had to replace one on my car, and that was when I first got the car. But at $10 a shot, that means BD has a whole **** load of them, and they don't sell.

It is a pain to lose a parts distributor for sure, but like Sean said there is more than enough opportunity to order parts from a Mazda dealer or other parts broker at a reasonable enough price. Speaking of I should order door seals and outer window rubbers...
