S4/5 FC coils with Wolf.
I'm swapping a S5 TII engine into my 1982 SA.
As I will use a Wolf 3D (V3.2) to run the engine, I was wondering about the coils/coilpacks.
The Wolf manual states S4 coils can be driven, but S5 are not compatible. This is confusing, as Mazdatrix only has one ordernumber for all 86-91 coils (one for trailing, one for leading), in other words: they should be all the same.
Right now I have S5 coils ready, but I'm wondering if this is a good idea. If the Wolf will just not work with them, it's worth the try, but if it could get damaged, it would be a bad idea to try.
Anybody who can help?

Thats odd, i have an s5 and i was running a wolf 3.1 a long time ago. Worked fine for me. I have since sold it and also gave the owner all my schematics for wiring my coils. I dont recall it being anything special, but then again ive been doing the 4.0 stuff for awhile now and i kinda have that engrained in my head. Ill try and drudge up a 3.1 manual and see if i remember off hand...

I'm wondering if they maybe printed that wrong and meant S6 not being compatible??? After all, S4 and S5 coilpacks are supposed to be the same...
Good to know you had yours running on it though. I'll see what happens then...

I ran my stock s5 coil setup until i changed to a 4.0. Then i had to run a bosch ignitor on my trailing coil pack. Works just fine now. I think you are right on the misprint regarding the s6......
