newbie question...PLUG and PLAY

okay guys,
I visited wolfems site and checked out the plug and play version for a 93FD. However there was a small footnote stating that the unit does not control the oil metering pump..."consult dealer for solutions"
Anyone already overcome this problem?

No not as far as I know. I did suggest a solution but I don't own a FD and so well I don't have time to build the solution. What I suggested was build a stepper control with feedback from the oil metering angle sensor. Then use the primary fuel injection pulse width to determine how much oil is needed. Basically it would need to be programmable. With minimum pulsewidth at idle = minimum oil and maximum pulsewidth at WOT = Maximum oil. So the basic connections would be.
1 Power
2 Earth
3 primary injector
to the unit.
then from the Unit to the Pump
1 Power
2 Earth (maybe)
3 signal from position control ( tells you where the pump is at)
4 stepper motor wire 1 (Drives the pump)
5 stepper motor wire 2 (Drives the pump)
6 stepper motor wire 3 (Drives the pump)
7 stepper motor wire 4 (Drives the pump)

Cheers

i went simpler on my FD....
I fitted an adapter for the two stroke conversion, (Rotary Aviation) and I re matched the holes for a second generation MECH oil metering pump.

works for me.

Mich am trying to pm to send that stuff.pm me time you will be on line... hehe, use UTC time if you can due to the time zones :P

MICHEAL/GEORGE..thanx.
George, forgive me for asking but can you give me just a bit more details...i'm not as mechanically inclined as you guys and
i'm almost positive the dealer knows less than me about rotaries!

Well, by this week I will have my engine back. I will take some pics of the adapter and pump. It has no electrical connections, just a mechanical lever activated through th ethrottle position. If yu are using the stock twins the lever has to be re manufactured to fit. I have converted to Single, so as such I used the lever the FC used for the OMP. Remember it is totally mechanical, linked to the tpos.

Hope this helps. It will be clearer with the pics!

Yes just a Series 4 Oil pump with a adaptor that has a oil line to a tank with 2 stroke oil in it. A rod then goes up from the pump onto the throttle arm to regulate the oil injected.

The most simple way of doing it by far!!!
