Talking My new engine finally bursts into life!!!

Today I finally got my car going again. A new large extend port with 3mm seals. New Wolf Version 4 Rebuilt Hitachi Hybrid /T04 Hi flow turbo. I have a little way to go but it starts and runs. Thanks guys and Gals for all the help so far!

Are you using the Wolf for boost control?

Hi Evil Aviator,
I will eventually be using the Wolf for Boost control but for the moment I will leave the boost at 6 psi until I get it streetable then I will slowly move it up and tune as I go. I always tend to run my engines a little fat before I get it dyno tuned. It was a bit rough yesterday but I have sorted out the idle timing and fuel and it sounds nice at 1300 rpm with a very rock solid idle. I will drop the idle down to 1100 but it may be a bit rough. A engine with this inlet porting ran below 10 sec with 25 psi (137mph). I have much smaller exhaust ports to keep exhaust velosity up. I hope to run between 110-115 mph across the quarter. Do you have any advice for running boost control from the Wolf?

I was hoping that you did, lol. Please post your experience with this, as I am sure that many people would be interested.

A friend of mine has a modified 10AE in his shop that is scheduled for Wolf boost control, but the owner can't afford to finish the project for a couple more months. Unfortunately, everybody else that I know uses the Wolf EMS on an NA engine, so I have yet to see how well the Wolf can control boost. Hopefully it will work better than Haltech.

Today I roughed out the lean bits on my Fuel map and filled it up with 98 octane. Well it runs ok once hot but it is a bit of a pig when cold. I ran it up to 6 psi today but not over 3500 ......... I might need to fit wings!!!! It will need more tuning to get rid of the rough edges but the engine and transmisson seem to work well. It is shifting real fast with 6 psi boost I wonder how hard it will shift with 15Psi???? I nearly had the front wheels off the ground leaving the line today.

Just for some info for those who intend on using boost control ... did you know that the later model Series 5 used a control soleniod to regulate boost!! They used one of the control soleniods on the passenger side the same type used to control the EGR and split turbine controls. I no longer use the split turbine feature on my machine any more so I will use this to control my boost.

no clue though!!!!

and valve pmw is set at 30...

feedback folks!!!

I ran the spanners over the drive line today after a couple of runs. It looks like the tailshaft bolts are streched and need replacement. The motor feels strong but one of the exhaust mounts has broken as has resulted in the muffler touching the body. It is really odd becasue I run urethane engine mounts instead of factor rubber ones and they have much less give and are heaps stronger. So some new bolts and one new exhaust mount and I should be back at it.

P.S. still doing 6 psi until I get 1500ks on it.
