Drove my car with the logger going today. Well I must say I am a glad I did. I found 3 really lean spots that where too quick for me to find with the drive and tune method. I also found out why when I push the throttle flat it seem to go slower....10.0 AFR @ 8psi. If I hold the gas to keep the AFR at 11.2 it goes well(just watching the Handset) push any further too rich and Soft. The Wideband has made my engine easier to tune by heaps. At idle I was running 12.1 now it runs 13.5 cold to 13.8 hot. It is much crisper. The engine didn't like going higher than 14.2 it would surge and carry on. I have a large extendport. At cruise I was at 12.5 to 12.8 thats now around 14.5 - 14.6.
I am getting closer with AFR's the data being sent to the laptop is nowhere near as accurate as the internal AFR read by the Wolf. If the Wolf output a more accurate signal to the laptop port it would be awesome. In the mean time I will need to work on electronic method to streach the O2 data over a larger range and then input it into the Wolf and use the O2 calibration table to get the right AFR output to the laptop. With the current arrangement the first 50% of the range is not used at all from 0 to .640 is not used at all. From 0.640 to 0.76 is 14.7 AFR and from 0.76 to 0.88 you go from 14.7 to about 10.5 Now the output to the laptop is in 0.01 steps and some steps you lose 1 AFR reading 11.5 ==0.86Volt and 10.5 == 0.87Volts Now these figures are NOT ACCURATE they are just to demonstrait the problem. If the wolf sent the data so that you had 3 decimal points then you would have no trouble 0.860=11.5,0.861 = 11.4 and so on. Regards Michael Smith |

It is still rough it is not as accurate as I would like but it does find some interesting points in your map you didn't know existed. The AFR reading on the Hand controller is accurate it has temperature compensation and this makes the Voltage and AFR differ. If the sensor is cold the handset will show the AFR yet the voltage will be low. When the temp gets up to normal running the voltage and AFR are closer. The AFR readings on the handset are Accurate as I said before. The Data sent to the laptop does not have the same resolution and the DISPLAY on my program directly reflects this. The resolution required for accurate AFR is 0.001 volts the output to the laptop is 0.02 Volts. As best as I can do converting data from each 0.02 volts to AFR is close. The problems arise when you give your car heaps the sensor gets hot and this changes the characteristic and the AFR will not be correct again. If you idles for a long time the same applies. This is by no means the last of the logger it is the first and I hope to have some improvements. It does have some stability problems though. NOTE this will ONLY WORK with a LSM11 wideband. If you want to use a NARROW band you will need to build a calibration table for it. If you look at the working Calibration file you will see that there is data every 0.01 volts from 0 volts up to 4.99 Volts (512 data points) I am sure you will figure it out. what operating system are you running? My guess is that you need to install the VB runtime files if it is not XP. You will find a copy Zipped on the web site. If not I can still fix that too! Ok I uploaded a fixed version. Just uninstall Wolf logger and install the new one.
When ever you write software you have troubles because of the different versions and revisions of software. Both my versions of XP pro didn't need any other files and neither did my WIn 98 machine with runtime files. But thats life. :wallbash: Regards Michael Smith |

Hi George, there are a few different types of wideband but they work differently too. You should ask around to see whats required to drive the WB you have. Now my program is not accurate becasue it is not tempreature compensated, it will find lean and rich spots when hot. The Handcontroller AFR is accurate thought.

george Hi George, do you have a Narrow band O2 Sensor???? If so what brand?? I have not made a working Narrow band Calibration file yet. There is one in the Wolf Logger directory but it is designed wrong. I will look at making a working narrow band calibration file for a delco O2 as I have the data sheets. Narrow bands are only good for around 14.7 :1 not for power tuning. Regards Michael Smith |

Have read through the pages with intrigue, i don't have much in the way of programming skills but catch the gist of whats going on. Very interesting... anyway, I was about to email wolf when I read this post, I find it appauling and shocking that an international company can't come up with this basic tool, but a few enthusiests in thier spare time can. I am starting to regret the recent purchase of my wolf, not cause of the wolf3D itself, but due to this kind of sloppy support. I hope this post has found its way to the wolfy guys. Although the Wolf has no logging software yet it is great and their is great support here. I believe that some dealers have the New Wolf software to debug it already. What are you running?? I am working on a much better logger at this time and have most of the bugs worked out. I am working towards a auto tuner that can output a suggested map alteration or if you are game adjust the fuel map on the fly!! I have learnt much over the last few months with this project. I also have to add a Excel Export function to the logger to give you a 3d map output. Any questions please post them here their are many experiened Wolf Owners here!! Cheers Michael Smith |

I still cant tune due to to lsm. I ordered it from the UK. I hope it get here really quick!!! Yes, wolf is a very agile system, and merits more attention to support. This is the only forum hosting a Wolf 3d threads with success. I joined just over a year ago, and through the people and contacts here, i am running marvelous times with my fd! With further mods based on the wolf tuning we can go a long way. Its just till you get the hang of it! Michael is a major contributor to the wolf success story. He work endlessly on this logger project. I ran it and tested it and commented on it..(he was there on christmas day.....) I am sure, that the 'self learn' mode michael is working on is the contribution to make a brilliant setup! fine hardware and supporting software. I am a dumb bell with regards to programing, but sure anyone with a working knowlage of wolf can appreciate all the work and research carried out so far.... Thanks!! George |

Hey Rotamotive I have just about got all the logging working. The only real errors I have found are when the sensor is cold. When the sensor is hot it is close enough to get a good idea of whats going on. There is however a technical problem with the Wideband output from the Wolf..at 0.60 Volts it displays a AFR of 9.8....This looks like a internal error in the database for the LSM11. I have learnt heaps about O2 sensors too!! The output of the Wolf is too wide around the 13.0 to 11.0 area but I found if the voltage is higher than 0.94 when hot at 10psi it is way too rich. Around .90-.92 seems to give good power. 0.88 gives good power too but I think it is lean at 10psi. I have used the water temp logging to sort out my cold start problems. I have a few accuracy problems to sort out with new software but it is making progress. I have been fine tuning the accuracy between builds.
