Just to let you know, i havent forgoten about this. It was a busy weekend, howeer i managed to buy a laptop from Merciles due to my vaio dieing

My coworker who put a wolf3d v4 in his turboed subie 2.5rs has asked me every day "have you finished the dataloggin yet?"

He and i have also thrown around idea's for later on down the road. the best one yet was an auto-tune prog

Guess what !!! While rumaging through some code vaults for VB6 (Basic programming language) I found a comms programme that logs and can send/receive files on any comms port. It has a simple interface and has 1/3 of the code I need to make a logger. More importantly it has the comms interface that I have little experience with. So someone has done the hard work for me.... free software isn't it great!!!!! I am also making a version 3 for my Rotary Pulse Recalculator that takes into account the skip settings for the secondry/staged injection. I have to rewrite some of my equations and add skip selections so you can go from skip = 0 to skip =1 and it will give corrected duty cycle and not allow you to over stage ie at Skip =0 staging maximum =50%(because they are double firing 2 x 50% = 100%) , Skip = 1 staging to 100% thanks nyt/Chris and all the others that contributed. Hopefully within a month the "Recalculator" will be ready. I will, in the little spare time I have, look into the Logger too!

i can do vb6 programming, if any extra assistance is needed, gotta find the install cd tho, havent reinstalled it since my last big hard drive meltdown.

Sounds good, i am working on it also using the log's you sent me. I just work alot so only get an hour here, 30 min there etc

Hi teknics,
Jacob and myself have been playing with this, I have forwarded the Terminal programme to Jacob. If we need a hand we will drop you a line. I was thinking that multi tasking would be good but with 3 of us working on the code we could end up with very painful code because of different code styles. Would you be interested in working on one section of code and keeping a written diary so that we track the changes in code? I must also let you know I always give away my programmes and some times I even give away the source code.

Hey Jacob,
I just emailed that programme to you. Your proramming technique sounds like mine. Rip some fast code in a break and then try it out on the weekend and then fix it ready for the next week!

i gotta find the damn vb6 cd now its somewhere in a box lol.

Im all about open sourcing, i used to put a lot of shit on planet-source-code back in the day. And yea ive seen how varying styles sort of conflict with each other, if i manage to find the install cd ill drop a line in this topic, id be glad to try working on a section or two.

Have you found you vb6 yet? If you cant find yours ill get you another

I have found a little problem with Wolf with regards to the accuracy of the O2 readings from the Wolf. Today I more accurately decoded the O2 data while having measuring equipment on the Wolf. Now what the problem is is that the O2 data the wolf is returning is not stable with a rock solid input voltage. I have now decoded the O2 data but don't think that you can trust the output from the ECU. The input is designed to read from 0 Volts to 5 Volts Narrow band sensors run 0.0 Volts to 1.1Volts ....widebands run 0.0 to about 4.7Volts(5 Volts) The error voltage is a high as 0.1 volts.

CrackHeadMel 08-13-05 09:49 AM

Well thats no good. Can you explain how you tested this? Sucks if the wolf really isnt that precise.

nyt 08-13-05 12:43 PM

I'd imagine it will depend on where/how well the wolf is grounded

Michael Smith 08-13-05 06:55 PM

Yep it is grounded well I have soldered all my connections and they are all good. The motor isn't running so no noise from there, and the power comes directly from the battery via a relay and the voltage is stable. The input voltage is stable too. There should be no noise issues either. This may be because it isn't running. I will measure the resistance of the O2 wire just to make sure. The only thing running is my pre pump. I will place a filter cap across the pump to see if that fixes things.

i still havent found my vb6, i swore i had it at work but i guess not.

CrackHeadMel 08-16-05 05:11 PM

pm me and ill send you a copy

if you already own a copy and just cant find it, its even legal for me to send you a copy

Michael Smith 08-18-05 09:29 AM

Ok done a little more today after work.. it looks like the Wolf need the engine running before it really tries to read the O2 sensor properly....Thats a swift trick!!!! O2 stable with engine running!!!!!! Hi HO Hi Ho off datalogging I will go again.

Hey CrackHeadMel when you get some time PM me and I will Email you a little more of the decoding I have done. I have even decoded the write sequence for a load/rpm point (for the auto tuner) which presented itself while i was fixing my idle mixtures.

Teknics if you would like the info I have you are welcome and that goes to anyone who would like to know.

teknics 08-18-05 05:09 PM

Michael, the info you have would be awesome, not sure how you want to forward it to me.

Any progress on the data logger yet fella's...
Ive got a test n tune coming up...ill try it out for ya's if you like...lol

VaGambler 08-25-05 06:02 PM

Hey guys Im glad to see you guys are working on the data logging issues, but has anyone contacted Wolf lately to see how they are coming . You guys are doing this on your free time . I feel wolf owes it to us to get this out ASAP . They have had delays and excuses . I bought this with the understanding that they were real close to completing it . 2 yrs later its still not worth the receipt they sent me. Im sure if they were really trying to complete this , then they could have it done in under 2 weeks if they simplied put the effort into it . Please feel free to leave me some feed back .

Thanks and great work guys

CrackHeadMel 08-26-05 04:49 AM

It is being worked on. However Myself and everyone else is generaly pretty busy (sucks i know.. i need it too, hard to tune at 5krpm in 4th...)

When i get time ill complete what i am supposo do, and im sure its the same with the others

Michael Smith 08-26-05 07:18 AM

The actual problem is not the logging but decoding the information. I use a serial port monitor program that intercepts the data between the ECU and Laptop. It writes big file too. I have decoded some of data that we need. I have even found out how to write data back into the wolf for any loadpoint/Rpm combination. Now until we have a automated decoder you manually need decode the Info.

Is there any chance that AMS would let you guys use the equipment you need ??? Most of you guys have been here for a while and probably know you . Does Chris have any insight on when they are suppose to be done ??? Have any of you ever used the G tech pro ???What do you think , any reviews???

Just wondering

RotorMotor2 09-12-05 11:58 PM

Well I talked to Chris Green today and he said that last he had heard from Austraulia, They told him he would get the beta in a week and a half, I like all of you am not placing bets on wheather or not this is accurate or not but for humor sake I will call Chris again in 2 weeks and let you know........ to be forever continued..........

rotamotive 09-13-05 03:51 AM

The last time i spoke to steve, the topic of data logging came up [as it does everytime we speak...lol] and has assured me that they have a full time programmer and will now be designed and completed 'in house' as the programming company that they initially employed has let them down in a major way and is no longer using thier services. Fingers crossed it should be ready in about 1 month...

CrackHeadMel 09-18-05 07:03 PM

Long time, but not forgoten. I worked most of today writing the logger with all the decoding information and converstion information Michael Smith has provided me.

I got hung up with getting my own program to involk responses from the ems, however that is the last step to get the logging portion done. (i know, sounds like a big issue, its really not though)

My day got cut short with a friends truck shitting the bed, had to go help trouble shoot (tranny fluid everywhere.. however no leak?)

So, wether or not wolf does get there logger going, there will be another available once i get this one problem solved

rotamotive 09-21-05 09:08 AM

Thats ok,thats pretty good to have a choice as to which data logger we wish to use. Cant wait for you guys to finish it...Wil it be text only and record the Air/fuel through the Wolf AFR...?
