it wont start: help
my 88 tII wont start it turns but it will not start. it has fuel, i checked fuses and everything seems to be conected. i drove it yesterday but today it wont start. what can i check and how to fix it. HELP
Pull fuel pump fuse in the engine bay. Crank car for 10 seconds with accelerator to the floor. Reinsert fuse. Try to start it. You're probably flooded...if that doesn't work you might need to remove spark plugs and remove that fuse and crank the motor for 10 seconds then try again. <That is if you're flooded badly.
Idk what that is, but try my method(s) and see what happens. Also it wouldn't hurt to pull the plugs and spray them off with some brake cleaner, or use a wire brush on them if they have some **** caked on.
R u gettin spark?..........my 86 did that sumtimes, when i run the **** out of it, wouldnt start for a day and then would run good, the ignition may be the prob, meaning the key part and also do away with the cat/convertor changed them on mine and never happened again!!! Might also be the computer, just a heads up. Plus do what smog says, also check ur relay for the pump its behind the kick panel on driverside if u didnt know that

i'll do that and see what happens, thanks guys. the bleed off kit is supose to return the gas that was in the line and not let it sit on the chamber to prevent it from flooding. i think a lot of tII's has this problem, leaking injectors.
So the coils aren't putting out any spark at all? Like both of them-nothing? If that's the case check the main fuse I think that's bolted onto the fuse box. And check all the wiring leading to the coils.
i would say it is the ignitors but if you go to a salvage yard get the whole thimg since dealin with the local autoparts stores they try to rip u off with it being rotary! Just the way ive always felt but it might be cheap, see if they cant test them i know some places can its just takin the time on the phone callin places!
hey dude i know i havent been on in a while but if the car is still actin up disconnect the batttery with the key on and hook it back up<<<< other ppl say dont do it but try it.
Horrible advice for a turbocharged rotary rich haha, keep the timing at the factory settings if the T2 is mostly stock. Advancing it is just asking for a blown engine...
Running full advance only works on mostly stock non-turbo car's FYI.
Get a wiring diagram and a pinout for your year FC ECU, check the pins that send the signal to the coil packs to fire. IIRC the coilpacks have power but receive another signal from the ECU to fire.
Also how well are they mounted to the car? They ground through the case of the coilpacks to the body, poorly mounted packs = bad grounding which leads to bad or no spark.
Lift the carpet on the passenger side footwell and remove the kick plate covering the ECU, how well is it mounted? should have 4 nuts holding it down to the floor as it grounds through it's case as well for a few components. Are all 3 plugs plugged in all the way? The plastic clips tend to brake when someone tinkers with them alot, perhaps one of them has loosened and pulled far enough away to lose contact for the ignition.
Can also do a continuity test with the power off and check to see if the wire is intact from the ECU to the coil packs.
If none of that works you can get coilpacks from any FC as they are all the same.
Also try searching and posting these questions in the 2nd Gen Technical section, much more help there as this is the west section which isn't really meant for tech info.
Spiking and freaking out the computer and other electric components will help do what?
OP ignore this foolish advice from this noob if you don't want further electrical issue's.
