Whats the CA law on cars that parts are NLA

So 12a parts are NLA.

12a RX7 is 79-85 in USA (or did we have any 78's?)

Anyways so they are out of the emissions exempt....

but wait, we can't get housings and rotors too? anymore, I'm sure the emissions equip is pretty much NLA.

Anyways is there a possibility where cars get exempt by their parts being NLA?

It's illegal in cali to change the engine, but if you can't fix your engine since the parts don't exist, can you rightfully put in another type of engine and it'd be legal?

I duno I just got thinking on that, it's shitty how people with older cars can do whatever, my friends step dad works on shitty boingers all day, just finished a old ford truck he drives around (Redneck guy) has no exhaust just headers and he has no issues in town, my FC would get tickets if I had no exhaust.

well you can swap engines if its from the same year or newer car from what i remember but i think you would still have to get it barred and ref'd and everything

So it'd legal for all 78-85 non GSL-SE RX7's to switch to a 13bt, 13B-REW, 13b-EGI (Oh wait I think some parts forthe 13b-EGI arnt made anymore, would be pointless to switch)

I know that nobody could tell the diff if you did but I've been wrongfully ticketed before as a polluter/excessive noise in my FC (Had old exhaust stolen, new exhaust wasnt loud) they threw it out but I think theres gotta be some way to use the 12a going bye bye to get a custom engine setup

ah thx man, this is getting interesting.

So if you swapped a T2 engine from what I read, it must contain ALL emission equip that the ref can find that a turboII rx7 had, and you must run the stock computer and the check engine light must not be on and it must pass smog (of course)

Well of course a 13b will fit in place of a 12a carbbed and you wont need to ref that since it'll function the same and pass smog, I just wanted to see what else people could do...
