the upgrades some of us go for are simple stuff...
cold air intakes and reprogramming the computer is a good start. then you can go with a cam and valvespring upgrade, some better flowing heads, maybe some longtube headers. other guys have added nitrous or even built their own turbo setup. stroker kits and forged internals for guys pushing lots of torque.
once you have a lot of power to put to the ground you will need to look into wider rear fenders and wider wheels/tires along with a beefier rear end like a Cobra diff swap or Vette diff swap if you want to keep the independent rear suspension. otherwise you can swap in a ford 9" and call it a day for the dragstrip.
Put this thread in Rotary Performance > Other Engine Conversions
You gotta be a noob to post stuff like this in the West Section.

yes please, i'm getting tired of seeing all the LS1/2 threads. for the most part it is people who had bad experiences with rotaries and decided to take the easy way out, pussies.

Karack is right saying "for the most part it is people who had bad experiences with rotaries and decided to take the easy way out, pussies."
I took the easy way out after watching RX-Heven stay turbo rotary and rebuild his engine 4x due to one reason or another, rebuild the turbo due to debris flying in it, fly up one of the best tuners in the nation for tuning 4x, and have to pull/reinstall his engine 4x and wrench on it more than drive it.
I make 75rwhp+ more than his setup on pump gas available anywhere, have more torque, and have over 20K miles on my conversion with no hiccups aside from blowing exhaust header collector gaskets. Replacing gaskets is better than having to pull the engine and plop down a couple grand everytime.
I'd say I'm about $15K ahead in the $$$ I've saved and imagine I'll finally rebuild my engine after 2006 simply because I want a stroker motor. Anyone that rebuilds ANY engine multiple times with only a few thousand miles between rebuilds..... and then still thinks that it is the best thing since sliced bread needs to have their head examined Karack.
Bottom line is rotaries making 350rwhp+ don't last long for one reason or another..... and are expensive to get to that power level.
Karack- how much power is your car making big dog?

I agree with you GNX7. Tell your bro to find a eangine builder worth a crap. J/K ! RR&R make more that 350 at the wheels and havent rebuilt in 2 seasons of NASA GT3 racing. Get a rotary right, ALA 787B and what do you get? A ,a winner, B banned/ bumped up in class. I am not here to argue that your v8 has a higher max HP potial, but your basing your opinion on 1 friend of yours. Bottom line IMO is if you dont want to put forth the effort to do it right and spend time and money to keep running right (13b), then a LS anything is a smart way to go. The LS guys dont have to change the spark plugs for how many miles? And I bet it is a damn good thing! I am curious how much does a fd LS1 swap end up weighing? I know the motor is all ALM so I think is is very close to stock. Any #?

You're talking about people "taking the easy way" or "not putting enough effort into it"... you need to look into the mirror. When someone else has faster **** than yours, you complain about them doing less work to get there? I CALL THAT SMART. if you want to spend MORE money and MORE time for the SAME power level with less torque and reliability, I'm sure nobody is going to stop you. Then again, nobody's going to think you're a genius, either.

A.) i have a lot of friends that are well educated on chevy small blocks, so i don't have to travel 50+ miles to the nearest mechanic if my car breaks down or whatever.
B.) i have access to a lot of LS1 related things(i.e. parts)
and C.) i can get a lot of LS1 parts for dirt cheap.
people can flame me for this or understand my situation, but seriously, i could care less. that's just my input on WHY i did the swap before it even comes into question.
