Jay,

Cant make it this week, too buisy moving and ****. What bout doing one more toward Milpitas, since a lot of East Bay guys are saying its too far? What about Johnny Rockets over at the Great Mall, or maybe the In-N-Out at the Mercado 20 in Santa Clara?

I'll draw up some more locations and see if we can have a vote on it. In-N-Out@Mercado is a popular meet up spot for local racers before taking off to Byron runs together, but also that parking it ALWAYS full b/c of the movie theater.

I've also heard from the LS1 guys that they used to get hassled by the security guards at the Great Mall.

We can always do it at Starbucks in McCarthy Ranch. Or we can just all meet up at Ringwood.....awwww, good ol' days of Montague 500.

In-N-Out mercado will be filled with rice, as always. really big parking lot though, theres one side of the lot thats usually pretty empty by the time that ppl meet up to go racing.

Nothing like parking your rice mobile at the shell station and getting half a tank of gas. Then doing a burnout on your steelies so everyone thinks your cool .

There was a time when everyone was out to race, not to hang out F&F style...probably around 1999, after 01 or so it was all downhill.

I remember some kid that I know going out there just so he can yell out "COPS!" and then run from the cops. That was his slice of cheap thrills at street runs, but at least he always ended the night with a bang, unlike people who actually raced and lost.

I wish I could've video taped those nights at Montague. That's never gonna happen again.

For the youngin's - It was called Montague 500 because it seemed as if there were literally 500 cars just circling back and forth on Montague Expwy until a brave car led the way to local tracks.

I don't remember anyone yelling "cops," but rather the lookouts would honk if they saw "five-oh." But that was a long time ago. And you're right there never will be hundreds of cars pooring out of junction and ringwood between midnight and 2am anymore. When Milpitas got serious about stopping that stuff you couldn't even use the shell station during after hours without being harassed if you had a nice car. And you sure as hell didn't want to drive around junction and ringwood. But anyways, we can reminisce about the Montague 500 more tonight .

Good turnout. I had a blast tonight. Good food, good people. What else can you ask for?

After dinner we went and weighed our cars at a local truck scale. Got the results I was hoping for.

My car:
93 touring - factory weight 2,862 lbs
sunroof, p/s, no a/c, half tank of gas
- with 01 chevy LS1: 2880lbs

BlueRex, guess what dude.....my freaking shifter unbolted itself. On my way home, my shifter just got lose when I downshift into 4th from 5th. Turns out one of the allen screws that were holding the shifter just rattled itself loose. I just tightened it back up and now it feels better than ever. No play at all. No more grinding and vague shifts.

yup, that was great, it got me to thinking about taking another 50 pounds out of the car... i think i can do it if i take out the rest of the a/c, spare and jack, rear interior pieces, switch to a non wiper rear hatch, and maybe the cruise control...

Alvin

82 GSL currently at 2360 lbs with a 1/4 tank and no driver...

Haha, I have all the cleaning supplies, but my friend has the steam cleaner and the buffer. Let me talk to him, but for sure I'll help you out man, I'm not a BSer .

Kim you should seriously start charging money for rides in that ls1 . Put the money towards our "future club" GTG's or something

Nice turnout as always. I wish I could have weighed my car, no accessories, no bose, single turbo with the roll cage. Oh well, someone will have to show me where this is so I can get some numbers on the weight. See you guys next week.

hi guys this is Jason it was great to see so many rx7 hahaha i never see any at all.

Just want to recap on what i can offer local rx7 owners.

Bumper painting (on painted or primered bumpers) $150-250+
Paintless dent removal $??? (the guy has to see it to tell you quote)
Magnasheild (its a full detail from lexus that is actually better then a detail) $100
Pair of buddy club seats (brand new with plastic) 700obo
Replica mazdaspeed lip (brand new and primered) 175obo

I can also make CAI for FC owners Price not sure yet so ill just take price of parts and lunch or dinner. I can get K&N cone Filters for 15.

also If you guys need any parts I'm really cool with the guys at Rotary Extreme and they give me pretty good deals. So if you guys need anything let me know. It never hurts to compare prices and if i can get it to you for cheaper then its well worth getting. haha

It was a lot of fun We should have a driving meet or something. See you guys next week.

Wow, those are pretty nice. I wonder if they'd fit in my Miata.

Yeah, that chicken was pretty good. Sorry I was so late, but at least I made it this time.
We had a pretty fun drive up 9 after the meet..no cops or traffic at all. It would have been nice to weigh my car too, but my other two friends weren't into it, so we just hit the touge instead.

Maybe a little fun-run next wed after dinner would be in order.
