Tuners in the Bay Area
I have a microtech and looking for a tuning shop so i can get it dyno tuned. Do you guys now of any? Where and how good are they?
I got a gtus,
Planning to port my UIM/LIM/TB with a full 6 port removal, With bigger injectors and still goin to have a stock port on the motor.
If you guys know of anyone let me know. Looking for a shop OR anyone that is VERY GOOD at tuning.
Jason
(a shop because they can be held liable)

Back a couple FCs ago, I had a Microtech LT8, got it tuned by Dave @ OSdesigns after I street tuned it myself (with wideband), ran much better afterwards and gained about 10hp.
Good luck getting scheduled in though, he's been awfully busy lately and I haven't been able to get my current cars worked on for a while now.
Theres a post about a group dyno session with BDC that was posted today, perhaps you can get in on that.

We do have a couple spots available, but they will fill up. As far as liability, it's all yours, shop, individual tuner, even a single dyno pull. I have invested over two years, and more money than I care to mention building my car, I trust Brian, end of story. Carl

My understanding is that they have very limited success with rotary tuning, but that is just what I was told by some non-rotary customers of their shop, and one rotary engine builder. They are certainly well liked(as in popular), but also very expensive. For instance, Brian Cain has been tuning Haltechs on Rotarys for ten years or more, but charges just 250.00 plus expenses(figure150-350.00 depending upon how much time is needed including dyno time) for tuning. To me that makes ~800+ seem very steep for someone relatively new to rotaries. Carl

I'd like to hear from some Stand Alone ECU RX7 owners, and their experiences, Carl

Hi Carl. I don't have a stand alone, just basic mods. On my 87' TII currently, 89' J Spec motor, 720 secondaries, rewired FD fuel pump, Corksport modded ECU, crappy Greddy air filter, full 2.5 exhaust(too small I know), FCD, lightened flywheel, and a AFC and boost controller installed by Racetune. Everything was inspected and dynotuned by Frank at Racetune and I'm very happy with the results. The car runs great and I plan on staying with this setup for a while since I don't do any racing other then getting on it every now and then.

I have been thinking of going standalone though, if I do I will definitely take my car back to Racetune. Frank has been doing great work on my car for a while now, I am very comfortable with my car in his hands. I don't mind paying for quality work.
