I was thinking about taking my STi out there for that event? It will be a little too hot for circulating around the track in a turbo'd car. The Rx-7 is not up to the task yet?

I will be looking forward for many trackdays when the weather gets a little cooler.

Bummer - I was at the redline event on Saturday and would have been cool to stick around for the one today. Saturday was a fun day, but yeah it was hot and got pretty windy towards the end of the day.

Here are a few pics from the Saturday event from Redline:

http://www.redbutt.com/bairdphoto/proofs/trackday/

I have a little video footage that needs editing which I'll get around to one of these days.

As for the heat - yes it was hot but my '7 kept its "cool" (if you can consider 230F, measured at the filler neck, cool) - well at least it was stable and was not going over that limit. I managed to blow a vacuum hose off the check valve that supplies the pressure tank making for some sluggish boost issues going in/out of the secondary turbo rev ranges but nothing too drastic.

I am bummed I missed the Sunday run - there's another Redline event at the end of September at Streets again - anyone interested in doing that? http://www.redlinetrackevents.com/

Simon.

That's pretty good in the 100+F ambient temps with track usage. NA's run cooler than turbos though and I think that 230F isn't out of reasonable limits for FDs in those kinds of conditions - not high enough to make the stock gauge read above-normal either (although its normal range is pretty wide)

oh yeah, the turbos definatly run hotter. i dont think 230 is too bad, especially if your maintaing that temp, and the gauge isnt bouncing all over the place. when i installed my koyo, i sealed all the gapps with foam and racetape, and thats really made a difference. i wouldnt trust the stock gauge though, on the FC they are TERRIBLE, on the FD, i hear they are pretty bad too.

^^ I second the koyo, but their tigged hose pipe suck ***. They did it a few degrees off. It clipped the passenger side racing beat front sway bar. Some modification was necessary for minimal clearance.

NA RX7: Koyo + ford taurus fan = Cool no matter what! =)

What's ur oil temps, measured at what point in the oiling system? Mabye we can help.

Oil cooler ever been ultrasonically cleaned and fins straightened and sprayed w/garden hose? Helps..... Self expanding foam in all the cracks / openings under the nose helps direct air to oil cooler and radiator only....

Well the main problem is I only have one Oil Cooler.... Mine's the touring model, and It won't be a MASSIVE problem anymore, since I won't be running in the hills, but I am putting in a 2nd oil cooler as soon as I can, and then all will be well....
