Is a TII worth keeping?

Man i been debating about this for a very long time ...
I have two car, 87 TII and 91 240sx ... which one to keep and which one to sell?
I know pplz in this forum will say to keep the TII n get rid of the 240sx but i still want some honest feedback.
or
I have the TII for 2 years, had problems but fix most of it, but i'm scared it gona died on me and i wont have a car to get to school. It died on me when my turbo blow up, and had major oil leak, but now it running better den ever.
Problems ; Idle high and it wont pass smog

I have the s13 for a year now, never really have a problem til now ...
problems; need a new motor, need a new exhaust system (bend), whole new suspension; brakes, rotors, springs, control arms.

So i was gona sell the TII and just drop a new motor in the s13 and still have some money left over to replace the other parts. The reason why i want to do that is that i cant fix the idle problems so that mean no grls ... wants to be in my car,

OR should i sell the 240sx for watever n try to fix the idle? i have diz idle problem for 2 years now, it suck dude, i'm embarrass to drive it sometime. So i'm running out of object on how to fix this prob.

also keep in mind i'm a college student and have no job

So i would love to get some honest feedback.

I say keep the S13 and make this your daily driver to and from school. its much more gas efficient and reliable than a RX-7. My son drives a FB with a streetported 13-B and 48 weber. Its no fun handing him gas money every other day. That's an honest opinion.

For my second opinion, get educated. Once you're making top dollars, you will have lots of girls to choose from. No dinero, no choices.

For my third honest opinion, JUNK the TII.

Loazieboy: Dont feel bad about your options. I was in the same boat. All I had to drive was my FC and I hated that everything broke and spent a lot on gas but I loved my car. I saw your for sale thread and it's obvious you dont want to sell it.

here's what i think:

Option 1: Keep your TII... sell your s13 and invest that money into making your TII more reliable (wideband, FCD etc) with these simple mods, you can make your FC last a lot longer granted you dont go out and rape your car everyday (excessive revving and not keeping maintenance up to par). Just daily drive it, add a cool set of wheels, body kit if its your thing and just crusie in it from point A to point B. Like wacky said, invest time in school and stay focused, soon enough you'll be able to build the **** out of your TII

Option 2: Sell your TII and invest that money into your 240. Now my apologies for assumptions but you seem like the kind of guy that would prob look for a SR20DET if you had the money right? Thats where you'll make your own choice, get a KA, turbo a KA motor or get a SR20. Just remember that you're gonna be driving this car everyday no matter where you're going, date, meets, family events, etc so it's gotta be what you're comfortable in.

Option 3: Sell them both and buy something that wont get the attention. get a 4 cyl car that gets awesome gas mileage and daily the heck out of that thing til you're done with school an what not. I know this prob isnt even an option but i had to do it at one point.

Well now you have my input but of course if I were you ( I AM NOT!!!) I would sell the s13 and daily the TII but thats just me. I have a daily driver and still dumping money into my TII. It never ends, it never will.

If you don't have the money to keep a car maintained, my friend, you for-sure can't afford a girl.

Pick whichever car will be cheaper to fix up to reliable-safe-and-smoggable levels, sell the other, sad though it may be - - you do NOT want to be stuck with a car you can't smog and register if you have money troubles - - use it to get to/from, finish school, make some money, then worry about hobbies like cars and girls.

My 2c, anyway. Good luck with however you choose to go.

EDIT: judging from the responses above, looks like the TII might be the easier one to sell - - an important thing to think about in the current economy.

well if you descide you're going to sell the s13 shoot me a pm cuz i may interested in it.

i'd say keep the t2...you said it has a high idle and some other minor stuff like that...the 240sx needs a new motor/suspension/brakes etc...practically the whole car. you may get a little better gas mileage out of it but you'd have to spend so much more initially that it wouldnt really be saving you any money...so i'd say sell the s13 and fix your idle(have ben go over it since you're in my area and he's the best around by far)

although honestly the most practical solution is sell both and get an econobox for school...but we're not exactly practical people here

1. please learn how to spell.

You dont seem like you really wanna keep the TII so would say sell it and fix your other car. Give the TII a new home where the owner has the time, love and money for it.

Hey thanks for everyone inputs, i love both car a lot because they both have their ups and downs; rx7 is more fun to drive because of the turbo, even doe i don't boost often and the 240sx is fun on turn because of the weld diff .

I thought of every options that you guys posted, just haven't really decide which one is best for me. I know one thing is pho sure, i'll need a car to drive to school everyday, and i cant have it breaking down on me for a long period.

So i think, im not sure, i'm just gona sell the s13 for watever hopefully a good price, if not i'm just give it to my friend cuz he always wanted a s13 and just dont have da money, and in return he has to help me upkeep the rx7 and den in a year i'm moving back to Alaska and den i'll sell the rx7. I don't really burn the **** out of any of my car unless there some dumbass honda or mustang that wants thinks he all bad *** n ****, other den that the car should last me at least another year until i have to decided again .. watever to keep it or not ... oh yeah both car wont pass smog, i had to get it special smog for both so it wont matter about the smog only the keepup. Hopefully i get my unemployment which is like 500 every 2 weeks? den i'll have some money and den my Alaska money so yeah , that should help me with any problem the car might have in the future as long it not something major.

Man i got to start meeting pplz in sacramento that can help me out with da rx7! lol

Thanks everyone!

Not to sound mean, but OMG please use real words XD

Anyway. If you are serious about school, and aren't in the best of money situations I would strongly advise on selling both and getting a better gas mileage, more reliable car. You should hit up the Sac meets too if you are interested in meeting some rotor heads.

#3, Buy a beater civic.. once you finish up with school and have a good job you can buy yourself a nice project car.. for now no need to spend money on a car on a monthly bases to keep it running.

I'd get rid of the 240 it'll sell faster. (sorry rx7 peeps, but only rotary lovers buy rotarys)
You said you have A LOT more wrong with the 240 as well. You will get 2-3k for a non-smoggable 87 rx7. That covers a new motor. (Not counting the beers for someone else to put the motor in for you) Not suspension, brakes, ect.

I would personally advise either.
A. Get a part time job to feed your hobby.
or
B. Get a dorm and sell the cars get done with school.

I pull 16 units and a full time job to keep custody of my baby (my rx8) it's not worth it lol. If I could wing free rent and school paid for I would hands down, not work and just buckle down school.

As for the girls, give it up. Don't mess up more women in this state by getting them attached and then moving back to Alaska. I doubt anyone from a sunny state wants to move to a snowey state. Get your higher education and then pick up some chic with your awesome amounts of money back where you want to live.

School is important that y i need a car. I have to keep the 7 until i have other opinion. Anyways i qualify to receive unemployment which mean 500 every 2 weeks so i can keep both car if i want to. But right now i'm looking for a new motor for the 240sx but until i find one i have to keep the 7.
