Question thinking of buying fd

does anyone think it is possible to get a decent fd for 8k or less?

if it is possible what kind of condition do you think it would be in?

ive noticed some for sell for like 6k or 7k but that is with a blown motor

i might beable to get 10k if i sell my fc for 2k

OR do you think i should just put all that money into my fc?

lol i hate makeing decisions

i am just looking for opinions

thanks

Think about it in this position.

Save up the money for a FD with a blown engine.
You can afford to get a new engine/engine rebuilt and installed(unless you DIY, then it's cheaper) by selling the FC.

Now, about putting it all into your FC, what's your goal with either car? Drag? Track? Show/go? Just a nice clean car? Figuring those out will help aid the decision.

There are all kinds of things you can do to a FC for 10k.

Buying a FD in decent condition, but for 8k....is not doable. You will be shooting yourself in the foot. Average prices that I see for FDs are at around 13k - 15k. Anything lower...and you are going for the stuff at the bottom of the barrel.

the fc would be show/go more go though

i would be shooting for 400+ to the wheels

i want an fd but i could settle for just doing the 13b-re swap but that also would be most of my money

i know that i can get 6k for shure and thats cutting it close for where i want to start for the 13b-re

i atleast want a koyo and all solid mounts for tranny and engine and go with a microtechand a fmic and of course tII drivetrain

Wel if you think parts are hard to find and expensive for your FC, doubble or tripple that for an FD. Figure that in when planning... FD isn't a cheap habbit....

I got my fd in good running condition with high miles for $8k. I had to drive out to texas to pick it up though. If you look hard enough and wait for the right deal its doable im sure.

I have an FD with a rebuilt street ported engine (400-500 miles on it) by Guitarjunkie28 for $9600. Clean title but it does need work.

I'll also have an FC with a 350 V8 for sale later this week. It is pretty quick and reliable as well.

Paint, bushings, window switch, torn leather seat, broken door handle.....a clean title manual FD with a newly rebuilt engine going for $9600 will need work done to it.

If it was any other car, I'd say that it's just minor stuff, but the door handle on the FD goes for $250+. The window switch is probably $80+. The bushings... I wouldn't even venture a guess, but probaby in the four digits with labor (depending on bushings). FD's are NOT cheap. Just because you find one in great condition doesn't mean that it'll last for any length of time. Just think of it as a ticking timebomb. Stick with the FC unless you got wads of cash laying around (like DCrosby).

its hard to get a decent condition and driveable FD for under $10k. although i do recommend getting a FD, maybe u can try and save up a bit more before rushin into one.

i got my 94 for 13,500. with less than 1200 miles on the rebuilted motor. but i agree, average runs about 13k - 17k for a decent FD.

although FC's are great track cars, i'd get the FD over keeping the FC. its much more pleasing to look at... =P

yeah i trailered it back on a flatbed. It needed some work as far as some of the interior plastics bushings but thats what i do so i diddnt mind. The road trip was kinda fun too. The following week after that I drove to South Carolina to trailer back a 69 camaro. I pretty much went coast to coast in 5 days.

If you want an FD, look on ebay. I got my 94 Touring off of ebay with a PF Supercars engine (10,000 miles) and 99,000 on the chassis. No problems with the car at all, and not bad as a first car I must say.
