TEIN Civic Si stolen!!!

Guys

Please keep an eye out for this vehicle and parts. I understand it may be a bit difficult to find the parts...but at the very least...if you come across this car somewhere, please call the cops.

Some **** has some pretty big ***** to steal a show car like this one.

http://www.kfmb.com/features/crimefi...y.php?id=56875

Makes it real hard for the companies to want to sponsor anyone, much less put out new product.

Thanks.

Dom

Made a call, got an update. Straight from the folks at TEIN

Most of the car has completely one-off parts. The ONLY production piece on the car is the suspension. Besides that...it is ALL custom!

I'm going to get a list of what is custom on the car.

Things that were mentioned to me that are custom:

Body kit
Custom turbo kit
Special wheels produced by Enkei Japan. Wheels are 19x10. Offset is not available to the public.

The car itself is a Honda owned vehicle, given to TEIN as a loaner for a period of time. Therefore, the vehicle DOES NOT have registration to anyone other than Honda Corp.

I'll post more info later.

So if your car gets stolen...you get everyone and their mom to look for it.

This isn't your car...and some of you guys crack jokes?

Pathetic...

Maybe because this is an RX-7 forum so people care when locals RX-7's get stolen. It's not like it was a private party car where an individual put blood sweat and money into it. Tein probably built that car in a week. This is a sponsored Civic, you think Tein can't just make another one with all the money they have?

My car is a near stock N/A, if it were ever stolen I would just get insurance money for it and buy a TII.

But yeah... it does suck that the car was stolen, and if I happen to come across a chop shop in Mexico I will keep my eye out for the car

Don't worry about the kiddies around here Dom. This forum went downhill years ago when junkyards basically give this cars away for free.

Tein will just make the money back by increasing costs anyways.

they should have had it insured if it wasn't their car.

So this forum is only useful for RX-7s only then?

TEIN did not build the car in a week. Even if a multi-million dollar corporation threw money to make a show car...you think it is easy?

Money isn't just readily available, especially for a Japanese company. I know the guys at TEIN. I had a good idea about how things operate. And they "can't just make another one w/ all the money they have." Companies contributed custom parts to this car. Not something easily replicable. There was a custom turbo kit on this car for example.

Cars like these...even IF insurable...the money does not equal the amount of time spent to build the car. The R&D. The labor.

well sorry to say but even if it was a show FD that Tein built i wouldn't care either, most people wouldn't. they are just show cars, made to look pretty on a showroom floor to sell products, products that are more expensive because part of what you pay is for that blinging car on the showroom floor, regardless of what you think it is true.

i'm not saying no one should care just that i don't. hopefully the *********** get caught because regardless a car thief is still a car thief whether the car is just for show or one that is off the streets.

Fellas,

Whether it's an RX7 or a Civic....the fact of the matter is.....is that the car was stolen and DOM is trying to pass the word out so that we all could keep an eye out. I have had about 2 cars stolen within the last couple of years. One was a bucket and the other was a Civic Hatch with a Type R motor....trust me....it's a nasty feeling.

Everytime I hear about this car being stolen pisses me off because lot of people including me worked late hours to get this car ready for sema. Now it feels like all that was a waste.

they probly paid someone to steal it, bet its a nice insurance check. I would if I had access to the car, send it to a chop shop. Never find it.
