can anyone recommend a good school/college that i can take classes at during the spring/summer to learn how to work on engines both piston and rotary etc etc and also efi and tuning

 

Any local jc should be good, but as far as specifically rotary classes.... i think the only classroom youll find is in your garage

 

ic i c. anyone taken these courses or more advanceed ones? were they worth it (and which did u attend)

 

I am currently attending school at UTI, in socal. Its nice to be able to work in a shop envrionment, with lifts and all the tools you can imagine. But the education is kind of useless...they really prep you to work at a dealer ship. All of the instructors are not quallifyed teachers, there retired car-lot techs. so rather than them explaining "this is this and does this and when it breaks this and this will happen" they say "this is this, and when it breaks replace it with a new one for the customer and charge them time and a half." As for rotarys, they have yet to be mentioned in class...

At the $25,000 price tag, i wouldnt recomend it unless you want to work at a dealership.

 

i went to school and got a bunch of certs for advanced engine performance, electrical, obd2 stuff, smog, general computer control systems, etc...

but now i just spin triangles

Earliest memory I have on wrenching cars was helping my pops rebuild the 18R for his celica, I was maybe 9-10. Once I became of driving age, It was just a necessity to work on my cars myself becuase the cars I bought were used and I didnt have the money to send it to a shop. Still work on my own cars myself.

Any JC should have a range of automotive classes, you picking and choosing what you want to learn in one summer would be an obstacle due to class prerequisites. They also have tracks to certifications for dealerships.
