SS9 Dinner?

Okay, who's going to the SevenStock dinner this year???

https://www.rx7club.com/sevenstock-archive-227/sevenstock9-banquet-tickets-now-sale-566948/

It is again at the Irvine Hilton.

cool_as_crap 08-14-06 12:16 PM

$50!!! :shocking:

REnthusiaSTS 08-14-06 12:26 PM

no thanx, beer-n-bbq sounds better...$50-'nuff said

Icemark 08-14-06 12:28 PM

yeah, quite a jump from last years $35... and last year was only mediocre dinner with kinda boring speakers.

So I wanted to see if there was anyone going before plopping down my $50

J-Rat 08-14-06 12:41 PM

I usually go..

BoostedRex 08-14-06 01:06 PM

I'd like to go, but if it sucked last year and the general concensus is to have beer-n-BBQ then I'm with the crowd. What's everyone's take on it??

cool_as_crap 08-14-06 01:13 PM

well, thanks to mr. flask, im sure i will be very tipsy during sevenstock :D

robtechfabrications 08-14-06 01:55 PM

beer n bbq fits better into my budget than a $50 mediocre meal with boring speakers. and unless these speakers are gonna tell me something significant its probably nothing i cant just read online in 1/3 the time.

RotaryEvolution 08-14-06 02:08 PM

$50 will drive off many potential maybes.

forget that... unless it is a top tier dinner then it doesn't sound worth it to me. just convince the speakers to speak at our BBQ instead. :p: BBQ outdoors sounds better than this does anyways.

cool_as_crap 08-14-06 02:10 PM

where is the bbq going to be btw?

RotaryEvolution 08-14-06 02:17 PM

in the trunk of your car, where did you think?

Digi7ech 08-14-06 02:23 PM

Yeah, The $50 price tag is sucking.

Not sure if I want to go. Last year was pretty boring and the food was So-so.

For $50 I would expect a big ass steak served to me by a hot stipper.

Actually last years price was $40. Rates are up everywhere and we've worked very hard to keep them within eye sight of last years price. Remember it's not just the meal itself you pay for. We work hard to bring you a great event from start to finish. Speakers etc. will be annouced shortly and I encourage you to attend. Thanks all!

LC

steak and a lap dance...hehehe

hey if they get dougie howzer as a speaker i'll go to the dinner.

RotaryEvolution 08-14-06 03:22 PM

i don't see a plan of events, list of speakers or menu.. nothing that constitutes the price. my suggestion is if you want more people to show, especially for that price, then tell them what they are getting for it.

to me it sounds like an older member meeting, most of the younger members would rather hang out around a fire drinking and shooting the shit rather than eating blah food and listening to boring speeches. even most of the older guys who are in this club have a younger mentality i see and probably even they would be bored by it so unless it is spiced up i think you will be fighting with our BBQ for attendance. ;)

well see, back as SS7, that dinner rocked. The food was great, and they had all the speakers from Japan, and the racing stuff and slide shows and the like.

So... I am mixed on buying tickets this year for it.

BoostedRex 08-14-06 03:32 PM

I'm going to have to see a list of events prior to dropping $100 for Berry and I to have dinner.

Mark, did they release the group price hotel yet? I haven't seen anything about it.

RotaryEvolution 08-14-06 03:41 PM

well that's the problem, who knows how it will turn out so for right now i am leaning towards our own BBQ.

come on! who doesn't like getting drunk and belligerent?!

RotaryEvolution 08-14-06 03:46 PM

skipped? lol i worked 14 hours that day and we didn't get done 'til 2am :p:

ilike2eatricers 08-14-06 04:00 PM

i'll most likely pass on the dinner this year. btw i definately got my money's worth last year with several dinners and desserts lol. most of the time at the dinner last year i just ended up going outside for drinks and burning a few

yep, the it is the same Hilton Irvine Airport hotel as it was in the last years. $99 a night if you call Hilton, and say that you are part of the "sevenstock 9 group". That is the same place as the Dinner will be, so you can drink and not worry about driving.

I also still have an extra room for both Friday and Saturday night that has a single King sized bed at the same rate. (I booked two rooms back when they first announced SS9).

Ryan and I have both stay'd there in the past.

Ryan says he is willing to go drinking after the dinner this year. The last couple of years everyone is normally too tired or they want to head home or not drink... been kinda a bummer. Maybe this year will be better.

you gotta go this year as well so we can have a battle of the gluttonies again.

$50 though is kind of making me think about not going too. maybe theres a reason why its so high this year, but im too lazy to research. maybe someone will chime in for my lazy butt.

Rotary13B1 08-14-06 05:45 PM

I'll post up the menu for this year, when I get home later. Maybe LC can right now, if he's got it... There's NY Steak on the menu.. and some other stuff..

BoostedRex 08-14-06 05:53 PM

Hey Mark, I'll take that second room off of you if that's cool. Just let me know and we can work out the money thing from there.

Funkspectrum 08-15-06 03:07 AM

I say we get tanked in the parking lot again...

That was some fun shit....especially when Ben got molested by the hosebeast!

BoostedRex 08-15-06 09:32 AM

I'll tell you what's even funnier! Berry and I know who the hosebeast is!!!!!! We figured that out when we were all sitting around one night. And damn is that girl ugly!!

Mark, PM'd you.

Funkspectrum 08-15-06 10:12 AM

she may have been a hosebeast...But actually, she was really nice...her mom was too...

we all had a shit ton of good laughs....

DCrosby 08-15-06 10:30 AM

You all are cheap bastards, you'll jump at paying $500 for some "Anti Detonation Butt Plugs", and you'll skip out on a $50 dinner cause it's too costly ??? :rlaugh:

robtechfabrications 08-15-06 10:38 AM

you should invite her for this year :p:

BoostedRex 08-15-06 11:19 AM

Nader, the hosebeast's name is Alicia and her mom is Holly. I knew them because they used to come out to the bigger SC RX-7 club meets. They made the drive up from GA. And yes, I'm sure that they'll be at SS9.

Icemark 08-15-06 11:28 AM

Yeah, that's because the $500 "Anti-Detonation Butt Plugs" work and are worth $500... last years dinner was a $20 dinner for $40. :(

Hey the Nor Cal Rotary Fest lunch was only $5, but that was a $10 meal...

For $50 I am expecting a damm good dinner with some decent entertainment.

Icemark 08-15-06 11:30 AM

Ben, Nader... did you need me to add a 3rd room to my block and aside for you two and the hosebeast???

cool_as_crap 08-15-06 11:39 AM

tru dat

REnthusiaSTS 08-15-06 12:09 PM

So, where's the PARTY at? Maybe, we'll bring the HEINEs-N-Chips...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...n-in-water.jpg

BoostedRex 08-15-06 01:31 PM

Well, at least I know to charge more for food at Rotary Fest next year. :)

But, I wouldn't mind paying $100 a plate for this dinner if it was good food and good speakers. But for mediocre food and boring speaches I would pass if it were $25 a plate. The money isn't the issue here, it's the value. I think that is the point most people in this thread were trying to make. Not that we are all cheap asses.

RotaryEvolution 08-15-06 01:37 PM

yea Mark i'll need a room so put me down for one.

hook up the hosebeast one for the top floor so when she jumps it works right this time.

robtechfabrications 08-15-06 03:16 PM

crap what am i doing for a room? mark did i already ask you for one of the ones you got awhile ago? i think i did...or i was going to and forgot.

BoostedRex 08-15-06 03:21 PM

haha fool, Berry and I took Mark's spare room. :D

robtechfabrications 08-15-06 03:52 PM

i'll stay at the hilton bitches!!!

Funkspectrum 08-16-06 01:44 AM

I still have to book a room for fri and sat at the hilton. Mark....hook us up! I'll PM the hosebeast and get her out in a tubetop and miniskirt and parade her around on Ben's arm! Then we can take turns spanking her with a splintered wooden dowel pin!

Just playing. Like I said before, her and her mom were very nice ladies....a little interesting...but nice. :bigthumb:

Funkspectrum 08-16-06 01:47 AM

Seriously though....mark, if you can get rooms, I'll need one too...

robtechfabrications 08-16-06 01:50 AM

yea mark if you can get an extra one for me as well that'd be awesome so we can stay with you guys but if not its cool just let me know either way so i know if i need to get a room from the hilton

adam c 08-16-06 01:41 PM

I have been to the dinner for the past 3 years. It's the same thing every year: Crappy salad, small portioned (luke warm) dinner, and cheesecake for desert. Sometimes the speakers are worth the price. Last year they were not.

I think a BBQ would be a lot more fun. The food would be better for sure!!

cool_as_crap 08-16-06 01:54 PM

yeah, I can add more rooms on, but don't any of you have a credit card that you can make your own room reservation???

The SS rate is the same rate I get for my corp rate. $99 a night + tax.

The Hilton number is 800 445 8667 if you want to get one yourself (you want the Irvine Hilton Airport).

But if you don't have a card, yeah, I can add another couple on my block, but remember you are gonna have to pay me back for it.

And none of you want to share and split costs??? two queen beds cost the same as a single king size.

Bern 08-16-06 05:19 PM

yo guys... as some have said... the speakers & presentations are really much of the value here... last year Jim Downing & Rick Engman (if you have to ask...) were the featured speaker and guests. Granted he's not the most animated guy in the world, but where else could you spend hours rubbing elbows with one of the highest and historic profile Mazda Rotary race personalities in the world in this very cool enviroment. Also alot of Mazda Management was on hand and very accessible to answer any questions you guys had, one on one! To some of you young ones, this night might've not meant much, but to the true hard-core old school guys this evening was priceless!

Also no one mentioned the cool *FREE* SS Banquet ONLY raffle, where folks walked off with some cool prizes, including a full MICRO-TECH system donated by Checkpoint Engineering (Chris); the chance at this alone made the evening worth it.

We understand that to some a BBQ & Beer is cooler, than paying for something maybe you don't much appreciate, and it's cool... but there's no need to thrash on the SS Banquet that's put on by volunteers, with no one making a cent on the deal.

Ok, all that being said... we've come back and worked (leveraged) with the Hotel and ask Mazda to help us (sponsor) drop the price on the banquet for all the SS enthusiast this year. We are hoping to have it very close to last year prices.... we understand that $50 is a little high, and the boys have heard you and are working real hard behind the scenes as we speak to make this happen!!! We thank Mazda for responding to our request here....

Btw, it's still way cool if you want to have your own bbq & party!!! Not all us appreicate the same things, we understand that!

STAY TUNED FOR AN UPDATE ON PRICING SOON!!

For those few who stepped-up and paid already, you'll get a refund on the difference and little something special! :)
