Thumbs up Speed Racer Movie

Anyone here go see it yet? I saw it last night and thought it was amazing. I went in thinking its going to suck and walked out really happy (minus the annoying damn 5 year olds in the back of the theater)

I might go see it again this saturday at an IMAX theater.

Ghostface Killa from the Wu tang Clan did a dope music video using the old cartoon scenes edited to fit the lyrics in the song. Hilarious...but nah man, havent seen the film yet. From the previews I thought it looked corny with all those colors and what not....

EXACTLY what i thought! the very opening had this kiliedo scope type thing going on, and my GF was like "oh that hurts my eyes" i sorefully told her, "then the rest of the movie is prolly going to hurt your eyes too."

I didnt really want to see it, but my GF really wanted to. So in attempt to be a good BF, i said i got a surprise for you when she came over, and i took her.

pretty much i've been singing the "go speed racer, go" since! lol

i'm definitely buying this movie!

yamy dad got me into it too, i watched it with my dad, he didn't like how unrealistic the races were, but i thought it was a good futuristic spin on things.
Plus for a kids movie, i found there was a lot of foul language, one was censored out though, for obvious reasons

And how Sprittle Flips off the rich dude.

I didnt care how unrealistic the races were, at first i went in thinking about that, but then i realized, they arnt going for realism like F&F. after i realized that, the movie was just so much more fun to watch.

The fight scenes were cool too. i like what they did for the fight in the mountain pass area. that was the bee's knee's

this movie deserves to be smack back into the depths of hell from whence it came:

I love the movie critic quotes coming out on this movie:
a manufactured widget, a packaged commodity that capitalizes on an anthropomorphized cartoon of Capitalist Evil in order to sell itself and its ancillary products

if this action extravaganza represents the future of movies, it's going to be a sad, dead and awful future

and my personal favorite --

In spite a roster of solid talent .....all are lost amidst the orgy of pixels writhing around like the special effects equivalent of a bukkake film.

Of course it was real. What's the matter with you? Do you not live your life 9 seconds at a time? Ask any real racer...

Yeah saw it yesterday, took my siblings to see it with the full intention of watching a semi-fast pace kids movies with cool graphics and some races.... **** was I wrong. The movie was freakin AAAWWEEESSSOOOMMMEEE way better than I expected and I barely got to watch the cartoon as a kid!!! I seriously thought it was gonna be one of those family friendly movies made only for kids, but I was dead wrong. Anyone who has a close-minded idea of what this movie is, has too see it. IMHO it had just about everything a movie should have (except for sex which is a standard for some people).

It was as enjoyable if not more enjoyable than watching Iron Man and I loved Iron Man (greatest Marvel movie made so far). Couldn't stop praising Speed Racer, was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie, made me feel 10-years-old again (in a good way), and I couldn't get the Speed Racer theme song out of my head.

Can't wait till it comes out on DVD, I usually wait till the 9.99 deals and under at Target for movies but this is DEFINITELY one of the few exceptions to the rule. Hopefully it comes out by the time I go to visit my gf later so we can watch it together, being that Speed Racer was one of her childhood favorite shows will make it even more special.

Exactly What i'm trying to say. A+ on the movie review.

Ofcourse some people simply wont like the movie, but it is so much better than what i thought it was going to be.

Did you actually see the movie, or are you just regurgitating the flaccid opinions of people too lame to do something with their own lives, that they find it best to critique the hard work of others?

I thought the movie was great. I came out with the same "**** yeah!!" attitude that most of you did. It was a great time, and though it was flashy, I don't think it was totally aimed at kids for one minute. Do you think kids would've followed Royalton's tirade on the commercialization of racing? Or given a damn about the sheer level of detail in the movie (Yokohama tires! Drivers cocoon on the mach6 just like F1 cars, the pogo stick pads on the car getting red hot when deployed, etc)

I think a lot of people got turned off by the sonic kaleidescope of graphics and didn't even bother to watch the movie. There were some great performances and thought the story wasn't super deep, it didn't have to be. Not every movie can be Shawshank Redemption, and not every movie should be.

It really needs to be seen on a digital projector, or in IMAX.

Saw the movie, truthfully I didn't like it. The racing, cinematography, and story line (to a certain extent) were all pretty good. But the constant interjection of the fat little kid and his pet monkey killed ever single moment in the movie. If they had left out that kid the movie would move from "Meh, probably wont watch again" to "That was pretty cool"

PS. Iron Man is a much more enjoyable movie for those older than 10.
