That's some of the nicer FC drifting vids that's not pro (Mazdatrix sponsored?) I've seen in a long time.
Props to the FC's on the vids!
Anyone know anything about their set-up's?

I did the rotor decals for him. Turned out good! This is the first time I've seen footage of it. Only seen the car and pics, no video.

Kyle's not sponsered (white mazdatrix fc). He built the car on his own and it is bad ***. The white vert had no PS as it went out that day so he was doing really well.

I know some about the setups. The car was at SS9. Someone should have some pics of the engine. I think I have some, haha. What do you want to know about there setups?

Those cars look really good on the track!

I assume the steering racks are shimmed or something equivalent?
How about shocks and springs?
Bushings?
Front camber plates?
Tire sizes?

Sorry for all the questions.

No problem. Ask away!

Well, I'm running the KTS Coils. The White Vert runs the Stance. Not sure what Kyle has on his Mazdatrix FC.

On the rack I have the washers. Kyle's white FC has the Mazdatrix angle kit. The White vert has the SuperNow kit. I just got the angle kit from Mazdatrix, it just came out but its not installed yet. It's way cheaper then the other Super kit.

Front camber I run 4'. Basically maxed out the camber plate. Vert runs maxed camber on the stance. (not sure what that would be) I have DTSS eliminators, and so do the other 2 FC's.

On tires, I run 215's up front and 225's in the rear. I just got wider rims so I'm going to start using 235's. The white vert has 215 up front as well as 225 in front. For the rear he's runs anywhere from 225 to 245's. Kyle if I remember correctly, when I talked to him last he had 225's up front and 245's in the rear. But don't quote me on that. I'll find out for sure.

For power I am doing about 300rw and Kyle said 350rw. The white vert is maybe 200rw on a stock Jspec motor. He still on the stock turbo and even has the air box on. But he said he's running 9-10psi.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the setups.

Yup, Ben rebuilt and ported my motor. It's hauling ***. Only has like 5K on it. Injectors got cleaned so it was rich as well. I leaned it out though it still needs some fine tunning to clean up the higher range. Also when Ben had it, it had the RB DP/MP. It sucked all holey ***. Lost 1psi of boost with that thing on and was so loud. I welded my HKS midpipe back up and put it back on. Way better now!

Are you sure they are on the softest setting? They can get pretty soft. I set mine a 6 and 6 for street driving and I live in LA with some mest up streets. I set them full stiff in the rear and 11 up front for drifting. Did you go by the manual? Cause when I got them it told me what way to set it and it was opposite. I was driving around with them set all the way stiff front and back. Check the setting on the front since its easier to get to. You should be able to bounce the car up and down just by pushing down. And make sure the springs aren't to tight you don't want to preload them to much. That would also make it really stiff. Try to use the perch to adjust the hight.

I am running a BNR stage 1. Before the port by Ben It dynoed at 272rw at 9psi. Now ported running 10psi.

Sure no problem. Always glad to help anyway I can.

I am running all stock sway bars on my car. I have front and rear strut bars. Corksport if I recall. No cage.

The Vert is also on stock sways, He has the front strut bar although he didn't have it on that day. No rear bar. And I'm not sure how it works on a vert. He has a custom cage built by one of the best FC drifters of all time, haha. Well I think so. Maybe you've seen his car, its Pink . Its a 4 point with sidebars and his top closes.

On Kyle's white FC I did not see a front Strut brace. I think he has the mounts on the towers though. He might have just taken it off to work on the car I'm not sure. He is probably running some sort of aftermarket sway bars I'm sure. His car is a track car only. (me and vert drive ours) And has every inch of that car setup for drifting. He has a really nice full roll cage also built by the same guy. He put a lot of work into that car, I'm sure if you saw it and spoke with him you would still go home with a lot of questions. I know I did. I'll try and ask him next time though

Wow, that is impressive!
You guys are getting away with minimal suspension, with the exception of the dampers.

One last set of questions!
LSD?
What about wheel / tire combos?
I know you mention tire widths - 17's? 18's?
Any particular tire brands you guys prefer or are you dumpster diving like us?

Thanx again!

The pink FC? you talking about Henry Shelly? I think that's his name anyway. He had the pink FC that ran in the D1 last December right? If it's the same person he's a really cool guy and a very impressive driver.

Also, you guys are all running the rear sway bar still? I thought a lot of people who drift the FC simply remove the rear sway bar all together to help get rid of snap oversteer. Just curious about that one.

Glad to see that you are liking the motor Ben built for you. He does one hell of a job, that's for sure!

Well, only replacing the bushings and better sway bars is left. Or is there something else? Roll cage would stiffen it up some too. Im getting one just dunno when right now. I have to see where the moneys gonna go next. But I have been in another fc with the RB sways bars front and rear and it didn't feel any better. But who knows cause he had a full cage. What else did you guys do you your cars suspension wise? Oh, and I'm sure Kyle's car has everything replaced.

LSD: I run a 2-Kaaz, the white vert has a stock LSD and I don't know what Kyle has.

Wheels, yeah sorry I was going to mention that, we all run 17's. That day I ran 17x8 front and back. The fronts are 17x8 +30 and rub at full lock under load. So I have new wheels now 17x8 +22 for the front and the rears are 17x9 +17. Kyle has 17x9 +15 up front I believe. He has a wide body. Rear im not sure im thinking 17x10 since his tire 235 is stretched just a tad. Front has more stretch than the rear. Seems I didn't know as much about his car as I thought. Haha, I have to talk to him about his P/S cooler, I'll fire away at him.

On the Vert he has a few different sizes. I think he's still playing with what sizes he can run and not. He likes to stretch for the gangster look, but he has 17x8 with unknown offset, but doesn't rub. 215's. Rear he slips a 17x10 with a 225 and a 235. On the stock fender it just slips under the fender and rubs off his tire size and info.

Most of us run Federal tires because JustDrift is sponsored by them and we get them at a really good price. They seem like good tires and even the guys that won the competition used them. I run them front and back and so does the guy in the vert. Kyle had Potenza's that day. I had G4's before, they slipped a little more in the rear then the Federals. Neither chunked so I happy with that.

Let me know if you hae more questions its really no trouble at all.

Umm... yeah we still have the rear sway. Snap overteer? I think most people have trouble breaking the FC loose and keeping it out since its so shakey. You need to have really good throttle control to drive the FC. I haven't heard about snap oversteer. But then there are very few Fc's drifting here. Just 6, and I mean all together not just 6 at 1 event. Maybe 2 or 3 at an event. But we defiantly still have the rear sway even a strut bar back there. The stiffer the better.

Ben did a great job on my car. I'll get you some numbers Ben, after I get some real dyno time on it. Really soon I hope.

You should be able to move the spring with your hand when the car is up. Then you will know its not preloaded. Just move it down and then move the perch up. If your careful you can mark the seat and count the turns, then move the perch up the same amount of turns. And yes suspension tuning is a pain in the ****.

Hehe, yeah no way in hell could I move the spring while the car was up. I don't know **** about suspension tuning, but was just trying to make my car sit at a level I liked while not having the spring way too soft...I was in a hurry to go to a meet and didn't get to adjust my fronts....big mistake I hit a little bump on the highway and could feel the front hop a bit so in fear of that I tightened the springs down....noob status ftw
