Heading out there and if I see one of you guys I am stopping you to say hey.
I know it will probably be high odds against seeing you in any location I can stop and talk, but I am going to try if I do see one of you guys.

Whos cars are these so I know who you guys are if I see ya?

Skunks said his was SS with a knight 3 kit, and Ggoodman is the MB touring, havnt seen which one bigisland7s is aka Dave, as these are the most vocal people from your area.

Any good places for us nonlocals to hit with our limited amount of time near your digs?

From talking to friends, it sounds like a lot of the locals don’t car too much for tourists? Is this explicitly true, or is it just the normal kind of outsiders rivalry?

There is not a wave just a dress code: Grass Skirt, Coconut Bra, Racing Sandals and a Rotor pendant carved out of driftwood.

Well my car isnt in that photo because I didnt own a 7 at the time but mine is BB with Fikse FM-5's. There arent really that many guys with 3rd gens around maybe like 10 or so. Its true about some of the locals not really liking tourists, but its mostly because tourists are kind of annoying sometimes. There are a ton of good places to go. For some good photo opprotunities you should drive the road to Sandy Beach and Makapu'u Head, climb up Diamond Head, visit Punchbowl (WWII memorial) pretty much anywhere along the H-3 will get you some good photos, and Waikiki has a few monuments and things. There are too many good beaches to name. The Polynesian Cultural Center offers great shows and you could go to a Paradise Cove luau. There is something for everyones budget here.

Thanks for the heads up iron4jones

Ya I think I know of all the normal places that people like to go from reading around, was kinda looking for some special places you guys like to keep to yourselves and arent publicized as much hopefully

Hope to do a little surfing in the warm water also. You guys probably wonder why we even try surfing up here in the cold water and tame waves, but it is great fun, and am looking forward to maybe hit a few good waves.

Not that I need it for my skill level, but when do the waves typically start coming in on the northshore? I know its wintertime is its peek, but when does it usually start kicking, I really hope to be able to at the very least catch a view of those swells.

And I know from reading is seems most all you guys think the island is to small and kinda mundane, but for me it is really like I was born in the wrong place! I would have loved to have grown up there.

My dad used to live there and I have never got to go down there so I am a little giddy from hearing his stories of him and his friends, and really would like to stop by and see his old digs and old friends and family that still reside there.

And any words of advise how to be a good little tourist ? What are the common mistakes people make visiting the islands?

Heading up there real soon any of you guys that have been there from the West section go any places that were particularly nice?

Anyone go on any of those helicopter rides around the islands? I thought that would be a neet thing to do, but the friends I am going with are already squeamish about flying on a commercial plane let alone a fly by night operation small business.
