Very happy with it. Wasn't as difficult an install as I expected since you have to free hand cut your own holes for the intake pipe, intercooler pipe, etc.

I was lucky enough to find a used Mariah Air Box from another Forum member. For me, if you're gonna run a cone air filter, you have to do something to shield the air intake from the hot engine air as much as possible.
I needed a ducted headlight cover to complete the Mariah Cold Air Box set up.
Was going to get one of Mariah's NACA ducted covers primarily due to it's sturdy metal construction. But I picked up a pair of new Carbon Fiber covers for about the same cost. Also went with these as the air duct on the lid is actually raised so seems it would catch more airflow.
It's getting it's computer this week, then getting intercooler piping ceramic coated. I'll bring it to AutoBacs on the rebound.
What's with the echo?

i saw your thread but didnt want to post my opinion *might be offending i dunno*, but are you really gonna gain anything? Cool air will still have to pass thru the hot turbo, and you have a front mount intercooler so it should do its job on the incoming air charge before it hits the engine.

What Brismo said. Basic thermo dynamics, cooler air expands more than hot air. More expansion, more pop. There is a reason Mazda Engineers designed the stock intake to snorkle in cool air as compared to how the intake for the old 12A 1st Gen captured air.

At initial start up, no. But that isn't surprising.
After driving for an hour, pulls better on the freeway. That is what I was looking for, so the answer is yes seat of the pants wise.
