So I got my first speeding ticket, I need advice

As title says, I need advice.

Freeway, going 85 to pass, when speed is 65

What do I do?

How much is it going to be?

Is my insurance going to go up? (I have Geico)

Is there any way out of this?

What is the cheapest way out of this?

Any advice is useful advice is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Pay the ticket and go to traffic school. Should be under $200 for the ticket and the school, and its not reported to your insurance so your prices dont go up. Ive been to traffic school three times now.

^^^Exactly...No big deal. I think after 18 months if you get another ticket you can get to go back to traffic school. If you get another before 18 months though the new one stays on your record. I could be wrong about the 18 months...

or you can pay a little, and take care of the traffic school online.
It's alot better than going to the class.

Can you please tell me where on any DMV site that it is $200? It's not that I don't believe you, just my coworkers say it's $350+ and after taxes, traffic school, it will end up being like $500.

And what do i do in that class? I know the online one you need to take a test, but do i need to take a test in the normal one? Are there saturday classes?

Thanks again

I just got a ticket for doing 75 in a 65. I was really doing 90 but the cop said that doing anything above 80 mph means you are not eligible for traffic school, so he dropped it to 75.

The ticket was 140 w/ Traffic school in Hayward. It took me about 9 weeks before I got my ticket though.

A friend of mine was written up for doing the same thing in San Jose and he got the same fine.

Is there any online website that has the prices?

And damn....it takes so long for it to come it....

I might move back to Canada (mebbe) by the time the ticket comes in.

Also, since i'm not eligible for traffic school, I need to pay and my insurance goes up?

relax and just wait for the notice to get to your house............we had to choose 135 bux for the fine or 139 bux for the fine and traffic school. chillax fool and don't drive like an idiot (speeding without watching ahead or behind for cops)

I think your just sketchin and your buddies are giving you a hard time. I got a ticket for doing 80 in a 65 and throwing a cigarette out the window and it was only $250 with traffic school.

Like i said i have had three speeding tickets and none of them were over $250 with traffic school. Dont stress out about it and just wait untill they send you the amount in the mail

Nothing much more to say then what was already stated. Go to traffic school and pay the minor fine. Total will cost around $250. If your cited for speeding by more than 20 m.p.h above speed limit, it's up to the judge to allow traffic school but don't trip. And yes, it's once every 18 months.
I'm very confident in saying that I've been pulled over more than anyone else on this fourm.

If you're so worried about the ticket then you should've either been watching more carefully or not speeding.

I just don't stress about getting tickets. I drive fast and if I get caught then I'll pay the fine.

out of the 3 speeding tickets ive had, ive never payed over $200:
1. 72 in a 55=$80+traffic school fees (about $20)
2. 69 in a 50=$120 no traffic school
3. 61 in a 40=$100+traffic school fees($35)

be lucky it is your first one. be more careful for the next 18 months if you want to keep the points off your record.

unless your lucky like one of my friends whose had his license for about 4 years now, and has been to traffic school 4 times.

i'd harrass ricers left and right..............speeders going in a straight line( NOT WEAVING IN AND OUT OF TRAFFIC) would go unnoticed unless they are tailgating...........
