Question Smog Test in San Diego

Hey,

So roughly a year ago I had an attempted theft which left it pretty damaged. It's been on PNO since then and has finally made it back. After waiting in line for 2 hours at the DMV, I got a one day permit to take the car out for smog testing. After visiting 3 smog shops today, I haven't even failed a test let alone pass one.

All of the shops attempted and failed to get the car to run through the tests. Something about keeping a steady 15mph in 2nd gear with a slight incline. None of the testers could manage this and would eventually tell me to go away since they were losing business.

Anyone know a shop I can actually take this car to? At this point I'd even be okay with it failing as I can get a temporary registration.

93 FD.

Thanks in advance.

Guess not? I know it's hard to believe.

The one guy that was actually trying to help me said he could get a steady 13mph going, but as soon as he would give it a little more gas it would shoot up to 18mph. Apparently for the test you have to maintain 14.00 - 16.00 mph on a slight incline. I had him try a little brake pressure as well as pushing in the clutch a little at 13 (which I still can't see how he couldn't get that one to work) but to no avail he said he could not get it to hold, apologized and sent me away.
