Single turbos in Cali - Possible?
Single turbos in Cali - Possible?
Short story is... I'm thinking of moving to the Sunnyvale/San Jose area for work.
I have a single turbo FD with about 50 things that are not easy to "fix" for emissions Cali-style (in other words, "please pop the hood"). My car passes Maryland emissions just fine since they don't actually check for the controls, they just check that it will pass a dyno sniffer.
Are there any workarounds for a modded car? Perhaps living in a special county, getting a special hot rod plate, getting a historic plate, etc etc...
I can't put the car back to stock every time I get a ticket for this or that... it's just too far modded and I don't even HAVE most of the stock parts any more.
I am not going to bring the car to Cali if it will be the source of contant problems.... at that point, I'm afraid to say that I would sell it and buy something easier to deal with like an Exige or something
Thanks in advance.. sorry if this topic has been discussed to death already, but laws are always changing, so I wanted to have a fresh thread.

It would be a pretty big pita if you got caught, and would have to put it back to stock or pay huge fines. I believe Santa Rosa is smog exempt, but not 100% sure on that. Your best bet would be to keep it registered in Maryland at a family or friend's house. That would mainly avoid you a lot of problems.
