it really depends on the material. is it the stock FC spoiler? what are you going to paint it with once you get the existing paint off? is there any work required to make it perfect? ie filling or repair anywhere?
doesn't need any repairs, i have some spray paint.. LOL i know that won't stick well but the stock color is black so i just need to make it shine again probably

like gel coated fiberglass you can use it on it but you have to clean this **** out of it super fast after you put it on so it cant get into the glass. on metal it doesnt matter spray the **** down with a nice thick coat of zip stip the paint will fall off in seocnds.
since its the oem squishy one
you need to get some sand paper and at least rough it up good. honestly take some 100grit to it then take it down to a 300 grit or so and at the absolute least hit it with a 400 grit to avoid being able to see the sand marks. since your just using rattle can you dont have to get rid of all the existing paint you just need to rough it up enough for the new paint to stick. before you paint after sanding it take some non residue cleaner to it before painting. make sure you dont leave any oily finger prints on it or the paint will not stick right and look horrible

DO NOT i repeat DO NOT use zip strip on that spoiler!!!!!
you need to sand it. thats the only way. you cant really block that spoiler due to shape but......yeah no zip strip.
