Dane,

Things are good. As far as the new assignment, I actually have not checked in yet. I am basically burning about 50 days of leave, so I won't check in for work until 24 May. We are living in the in-law's home which is about 50 miles from Iwakuni (1:45 drive by interstate). Once we get the title of the Mazda Familia transferred, we will be driving around a lot more. I have to visit Maker's RX-7 in Fukuoka, as I have many requests on parts that I need to place with them.

As for the Chaser price, let me do some checking on prices...

I was able to edit the post, so here is what I quickly found. Click on any of the four cars at the top of the page to see many more cars. I think there are around 500 or so listed on this first page I linked to. Cheapest 5 speed I found was just over $6,000 and prices go up to the $12 or $13k range. Automatics are MUCH cheaper...

I miss San Diego weather! It was 50 and drizzling all day!!! Sucks!

Haha you're a good man Charlie. Use it or lose it, dang rules on saving leave. And it was only 10 degrees or so warmer then where you are today, it was a chilly 63 degrees last time I was outside. But perfect weather to run an event

Charlie....here are a couple of options for cars to purchase and bring bac as your new JDM ride:
Toyota Publica
Daihatsu Compagno Spider
Daihatsu Midget
Honda Life
Honda N360
Subaru 360
Subaru R2
Isuzu Bellett 1600 GT
Cedric Turbo Brougham
Gloria Super6
Laurel Medalist

In all seriousness though....what about a Toyota 2000GT or maybe even an older Cosmo? The 2000GT will probably not be very streetable but will without a doubt go up in price here in the U.S..

Here are a couple of places to check out that have good used older GT-R's for sale there in Japan:
www.classica-y.jp
www.rockyauto.co.jp
www.takeeyz.ftw.jp
www.kuruma.co.jp
www.vintage-yoshino.com <= They have a ballin white 71 2dr GTR, a nice 68 Cosmo, and a GOLD 1970 2000GT!
www.flexauto.net <= They have a couple of nice GTR's
www.japan-vintage.com <= They've also got a nice handful of GTR's in stock...check out the exhaust manifold on the silver 1970 4dr GTR they have for sale and the engine and intake on the white 1972 Fairlady Z.......pure sex!

After converting the prices over to US Dollar....holy buttrape Batman...you weren't kidding about the prices being through the roof over there for vintage cars. OMGWTFBBQ!!!

Thumbs up Money!!

Money,

I guess I could use the term literally and figuratively in this occasion. Good to hear from you!

You have entirely too much time on your hands if you have been searching those sights! Plus, you are making me really look for an old-school Hakosoka! I just cannot see me paying that much for an old car right now.

With your interest in the classic cars, maybe you should coordinate with Michael and Gene and come to Japan with them. I am sure we could find the time to look at some classics!

Hope things are going well for you and family.

Yeah......those cars are DAMN expensive. Even rustbucket projects are expensive! I've been eyeing getting a 240Z project for cheap to build up (hence the Nostalgic Hero mags).

yeah....I'd love to pop over to Japan to check it out. I might talk to the wife about it.

While you're there you need to at least hit up a Super GT race or two and see the baddest of the bad in action.

I told Mikey that you guys need to start importing US Muscle Cars (Camaro, Mustang, Nova, etc...)to Japan since I bet there is a big demand for them.

Thanks Michael. I still have 'tons' to learn about this camera...

Some new additions to my RX-7 collection. I think a "rare" set of Rotary LeMans history (total of 17 cars in the collection)

Three different cars (#55, #202, #203)

Jason,

I have not looked for one. I will have my wife ask her nephews to see if there is Pokemon center in Hiroshima.

Money,

The other toys were bought at a local museum store.
