san diego area, anyone?

I was wondering if there was anybody here from the san diego area who is into 1st gens...maybe i can ask you some questions about the car i'm looking to buy. If some one with hands on experience with rx7's lives in the area, maybe i can entice you with some cash to come take a second look at the vehicle with me. PM me if anybody out there can help me out. Thanks!

im buying a 1985 gs. So far so good. the body is nice. interior nice. the engine is leaking around the oil filter area and on the drivers side fo the block...he wants 1500 for it. it drove well, and didnt heat up anywhere near the middle mark. has 200k miles and no rebuild.

If the oil leak isint puddling oil in the area where the housings between the Mazda logos are (leak of death), its just the oil cooler orings, which is what it sounds like from your description. Easy fix, but you also MUST replace the hoses that got oil soaked. They WILL eventually fail, leading to overheating and engine destruction. Over the years Ive lost 2 engines from hose failures in this area, one with less than 90k. HTH

talk him down to 1100 1300 bucks bro 200,00 miles and signs of wear and use are starting to show. And it never fails, he/she get ready to buy a used car and everything is cool during the test drive, everything works, everything looks good, and then when he/she finally buy it all hell breaks lose. Just becarefull and don't be in rush to buy, keep you eyes open. Also whats up with the smog is good?, with a car with that kind of high miles things are bound to not work that well being that the motor has not had a motor rebuild yet. Hit me up with a pm if you need some more help or something good luck bro
