Take him to small claims court. sue for $5000. You win, the court will send you a check within a couple weeks and go after him for payment. He doesnt need to have cash, they'll eventually start garnishing his wages in order to recoup the money. Everyone wins.

well if you have uninsured motorist coverage then you will be set, but if you dont you pay the deductable and that should fix it, if you do you pay deductable and you have the coverage you will get it back and your insurance will take him to court for you and slap him with a big fine for not having insurance. you shoud be fine it doesnt look like its a life ender for your vert. either way if you have insurance you are covered thats what you pay for.
