I'm not quite in Sac, but Fairfield area. I wouldn't mind going up since the last time we had a Sac meet was forever ago...

It's been year's but the last time some others and myself tried having rotary meet's here in Sac we could only get maybe 2 or 3 people to show up and it would just be myself and one other person most of the time so we gave up.

There just aren't enough people around here to hold rotary specific get togethers from my experience. As well as the local law enforcement stay on top of breaking up car meet's pretty well here in recent months.

If your looking for local meet's there's-

A honduh meet at Lowe's off of Calvine in Elk Grove and once in a great while there will be a huge meet at a Lowe's or some other large parking lot with about 600-1,000 car's.

As well as I've got a car club called Dreams and Driver's that my girlfriend and I started that take place once a month. They're charity based and cost to get into the events but we also do a couple of free get together's at Starbucks on Placerville Road in Folsom right off of Hwy 50 a few time's a year.

You can checkout the Facebook page or our website DreamsandDrivers.com for event info and so forth.

The first event is at Speed Factory Karting in Roseville Sunday, February 17, 2013.
It is to help Roseville Home Start which is a transitional housing program to help families.

If I can get more than a few, I'm willing to host and/or find a place either in Sac or around (Would be nice to do a FF meet since I'm close :p)

Last Applebees meet had a total of 2 people... My truck and I.

I'd be interested in hanging out once in a while.

Make sure to visit the place's you find and ask for permission to have a car gathering and explain it in a way that show's your helping their business and not just taking up space in the parking lot.
Easiest way to get shut down is to just show up and take up parking spots like all the rest of the people around here (Sacramento) do and then bitch about how the cop's made them leave and gave them tickets.

Get's old hosting a get together and being the only person attending doesn't it

loll Definitely a lot different. How about this, we'll get a host together in what say Davis or downtown Sac? There are only a few of us probably but we can start somewhere. Any places in preference?

If parking wasn't so bad Hot Italian would be an awesome place to meet downtown...

We used to have them at the Wingstop off truxel in Natomas as it was an easy in between point for those coming from fairfield, vacaville, davis, stockton, lodi, etc...

How about something like the newish Sonic they opened off of truxel?
There's also the In-n-Out that's on truxel as well.

Something in downtown Sacramento might be a little difficult when it come's to law enforcement patrolling...

You may have a point for downtown; yet, I'm still willing to call up the LE desk and see what they think about it. If it's for promotion of a business while we get to hang out and agree to not disturb the peace, not sure it's an issue.

I've had luck with Sonic meets before as well as grocery store parking lots

Be careful, they're last meet was met with the full force of Roseville PD.
They covered all exits and pulled over every car they could get their hands on.

A friend of mine is one of the managers at speed factory and only he and a few others made it out of there without a ticket of some kind...

Idiot's like the honduh's and wannabe drifters doing stupid things get meet's and other events shut down fast. I wouldn't be surprised if the speed factory meet's get watched from now on and shut down before they can even get it started.

Well dudes I didn't know it got that serious. But as long as I've been here the sac cops have been pretty laid back. But idk I'm just a new resident here. I wanna meet up but we'll see how that turns out. LMK when you all are down and let's do this!

I haven't been to a meet in years. Like others have said, 2 or 3 people would show up or someone would plan it 2 days in advanced and expect 30 people to show up. Heh.

I've just become a new owner of T2 swapped FC in sac! Had to go down to SJ to pick it up. That was the most excruciating experience driving back to Sac on the 680 with the fc on a tow dolly! Now I just need to find a reputable shop to rebuild the engine! Looking forward to learning more about the rex and hopefully get a chance to meet you guys!

Man I read the NorCal Rotary shops thread over and over hoping to find a specialist in the sac area for a rebuild. Wish Karack was still here. He will be my very last resort if I have to. So far I'm leaning towards Evil Genius Racing to get a quote, or a family mechanic that doesn't have too much experience with rotaries.

Actually, Apex944, when doing a google search for shops in sac, a thread you participated in came up. It's about 2 years old, but do you still work on rotaries off of Grantline?

Evil genius racing guy is a great dude but he's pretty realistic on prices. I talked to him before and wants to charge a good amount. But he explained the process in how he gets the parts (from Canada) because Mazda doesn't make rotor housing anymore. So he judges his rebuilds on the condition of the housing and depending on if they are salvageable or not his prices are about 1600-2300. He's a very smart guy and races "Lemons" haha he explained to me how rotary engines are a dying breed and he believes it is unlikely that Mazda will bring back the Rotary his name is John. Great guy, very knowledgable.
