i think it's cool....they'd be closer to me if they do. I haven't heard about the names chaging though.
The 49ers will remain the San Francisco 49ers. From my understanding, Santa Clara is in San Francisco county. It only make sense since the 49ers headquaters are in Santa Clara. Besides, there are many sports teams out there that do not play in the city in which they represent.
The city of San Francisco did everything right to not grant the 49ers approval for their new stadium. Now, SF have removed their bid for the 2016 olympics. Talk about red tape.
As for the Raiders...they could go to Eureka. They might actually get some real fans up there rather than the usual gangsters.
BTW...here is the latest layout of the new 49ers Stadium. I can't wait...the Stick has a lot of history but it is the hell hole of all stadium.

actually Santa Clara is in Santa Clara county, about 35-45 min south of SF, depending how fast you drive. I support the move, they get a new stadium and still retain the SF 49ers name. Candlestick is pretty run down.
not a fan of the Raiders, but there are alot of die hard Raiders fans. Oh and the black hole, they get pretty crazy.

Below are pictures of the projected ballpark for the A's, and the area they plan on building it. The article can be read at:
