Rotary Help

I just purchased a 93 7 about 2 weeks ago and I need some help.

Specs:

110K miles (5k on an R&R Street port)
Non-Sequential Turbo mod
Custom Intake
M2 3" downpipe
MR 3" midpipe (NO "cat)
Peter Farrell Supercars catback
Greddy Type S BOV
Greddy SMIC & Greddy elbow

I have been told that its running on stock suspensions with the stock rims and new Kuhmo tires. The trouble is it rides REALLY rough. Is there typical of a high mileage 7?

The car used to have a fuel management system but, it was sold a few months ago so the car is running real rich and the turbos are running low boost. Any suggestions on what to get? Apexi seems like a decent enough route to go. Pros/cons?

The exhaust system is WAY too loud for my personal taste and the fact that there is no cat doesn't help my chances of passig somg anytime soon =p. Can anyone recommend something a little quieter?

Last but, not least... Is there a good rotary shop in the greater Sacramento area? I'd prefer not to drive 200 miles everytime I need something fixed/replaced/tuned.

Thanks in advance!!

Get with Karack on this forum. He is 40 miles outside of Sac and is starting his own rotary shop. Great guy with excellent customer service!

And I'd hurry up and get some sort of fuel management if I were you. With a catback, DP, and MP you'll experience boost creep and blow your motor sooner than you could imagine! If you want a quieter exhaust check out the Racing Beat single or dual tip. Also, you could run a high flow cat to get past SMOG or order a Pettit Racing resonated MP if you don't care about the SMOG aspect. One other option is to have a Borla XR-1 welded in just after the midpipe. Best of luck and let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

45 miles, my shop is located in Yuba City, all i do is rotary work and it is a small shop so i hope you aren't expecting a huge facility but it is tough to find good rotary mechanics. hell even decent mechanics at all these days is tough to find...

far as the ride, check the air pressure in the tires, if it does in fact have stock springs/shocks then i would tend to think it is:

tire pressure is too high, go with the door jamb sticker recommended settings
suspension bushings worn out
struts are internally failing

Apexi fuel management is basic and cheap but works ok. full standalone like haltech, PFC, microtech, etc. is a better way to go but is also not smog legal.

far as the exhaust, there is ways of quieting it down without replacing the whole exhaust but as zach mentioned you have to be careful with too free flowing of a system or the fuel system may not be able to compensate for the added boost/flow.

and as always Zach beat me to the post...

forgot about poly bushings, if someone has installed polyurethane bushings they will cause a stiff ride much like aftermarket struts and springs would create.

basically more than anything you should think about what you plan on doing with the car and build around that idea. building a track car is much different than building a car to go fast in a straight line.

next thing to think about is how stock you want the car to be for smog reasons, you can go full out and bypass emissions or you can do smaller simple mods and still be legal or be in the middle somewhere.

I'd like the car to be smog legal as long as the performace hit isn't too bad

Fast in a straight line is must. A semi-decent track setup would be something I'd like to do later down the line.

If I can't beat a riced out civic at the end of the day something is very very wrong . hehe

vankman, your FD would have to be damn near dead for you to lose to a riced out Civic in a straight line. Glad that I could be of help.

Zach

P.S. Ben you know I'll beat you to the post. I have nothing better to do than surf the forum.
