Question for CA Police or ppl that know vehicle code

Hi all,

I received a citation with two "violations" written up on the thing and I was wondering what I had to do to get these taken care of, because it doesn't seem to be correctable.

The officer said they would mail more information to me in a few weeks but I was hoping to get some information before that.

Under code and section he has written 27151 VC- Mod Ex and 5700 VC- No Front Plate, the weird part is on both he has checked off "No" for correctable violation...

I have to appear at Superior Court of Santa Cruz 9/5/07

This basically confused the crap out of me because I was under the assumption that I could fix both of these things and have some officer sign off on them, but he's indicated that I can't, if I'm reading this correctly...?

Any insight/help would be awesome.

Story for those interested: My friend and I were cruising up Soquel/San Jose Rd he was in a blue C5 Z06 and I was in my 93 CYM. We both pulled over when we saw the officer turn around and we waited for him to come to us.

The Corvette, which is far from street legal(doesn't even smog) got off with nothing, however my FD which does smog just fine got these tickets. Also, he doesn't have a front plate on the 'Vette...good times

YES!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK CA COPS. Continue giving smog tickets to all 76+ cars.

and yes, that will increase the value of my 73 and 75 RX-3.

That is confusing. Both cases are correctable violations, unless you've been ticketed for the same violations before. There should be a phone number that you can call on the ticket. I would do that or write to the court. Sometimes those notices don't get mailed out. The court doesn't have to mail you anything because those are "courtesy" notices.

See, thats what really confused me, they definitely are classifiable as "fix its" but he checked of "No" as if they couldn't be fixed/addressed...I'll give the court a call shortly

Same thing happened to me. Got a loud exhaust ticket went to BAR got it passed(under 95db) then went to the court they said officer marked non correctable ended up having to pay the 120$ fine.

Plaguepunx,

If that happens again, plead not guilty. Then the cop has to come to court and explain why the exhaust issue that was corrected (actually not in violation in the first place per third party verification by the BAR) was checked non-correctable. With a clear BAR certificate indicating the cop was "mistaken" and obviously no good reason the cop can give for indicating non-correctible, more than likely the judge would have dismissed the whole mess.

My bet would be the judge would ask the cop why he was waisting your and the courts time in the first place.

My brother got a ticket for "bald" tires aka falken azenis and the officer marked it as non correctable. He had to pay the fine on this too. I forgot how much it was but this must be a scam to get revenue. Instead of paying ~$15 dollars for a fix-it ticket, you are forced to pay 10 times that amount without being able to do something about it. Lawyer fees would probably cost that much so you're screwed either way.

dammit. I ran into the same problem. A few months back I got a fix it ticket on exhaust. Everything was legit, I just didn't have the paperwork. The officer said it was correctable and marked it as correctable. I had an officer sign and stamp the ticket and sent it to court. Checked the mail today and I got my ticket sent back to me with a letter stating that the citation isn't correctable and I have to pay $203 to close the case. BULLSHIT!! Is there some kind of new law that we aren't aware of!??

Just got off the phone with them. Apparently it will take 5 weeks to get the information in the mail so I don't know the amounts. The code that he wrote me up for exhaust is a fine, not correctable.

The front plate code is correctable, so the officer mistakenly marked it not correctable and I have to wait to get the info in the mail.

Thanks for the suggestions and the laughs, appreciate it
