honestly, its okay if your on a budget, but if you want quality and something that will last and work great with no worries, buy a cusco,Kazz, mazdaspeed, lsd...

its worth it.,

but like i said if you have the money go for it, if dnt. go for welded. but itll only last you soo long.

It's a pretty bad idea, it doesn't allow for differential in wheel speeds which become a problem when turning (while not sliding) because your out side wheel is going to travel further in a turn then the inside. Differential action is necessary to keep the wheel from "dragging" around the turn. Your outside wheel will only be able to turn as much as the inside wheel since they will be welded together so your outside tire will drag, screech, etc. across the pavement. It will cause your tires to wear faster and gives you little advantages.

Like Zero said, save up and get yourself an LSD, they lock up when they are supposed to and allow differential action (the difference in wheel speeds) when they are supposed to.

well you wont break it unless you have 300+HP cause my friend has a 240sx with a welded DIFF and hes pushing around 300+ and its been like this for a year. i would do it but i think my 87 TII comes with one.but iam not sure.lol

TII's come with a Limited Slip Differential, as did GXL's and GSL-SE's.

i agree. don't do it. unless you wanna hear your tires screeching on every turn.

sorry but IMHO Welded diffs are a joke and is just a big *** drift fad..

" yo im jdm tyte yo, i just got my diff welded. that makes me a pro drifter."

all the lil drift kids are doing it... sad, but w/e you can do what you want, but its up to you..

you can be legit, or you can make your car look cheap and immature..

the choice is yours.

Differential's vary in strength from company to company so comparing an FC to a 240 doesn't necessarily work.

Like Zero said, it's a drifter fad, you wouldn't catch me doing it. Do it right the first time, you'll be much happier.

I don't see the problem with welding a diff. I know over 30 people who daily with welded and have no problem with it.

Drifters weld their diff for a reason. Not because it's "jdm tyte yo" Some draggers also weld their diff so they have better traction from a launch.

Yes I think a real diff would be better. But there is nothing wrong with welding your diff as long as you do it right. I have yet to see a welded diff that was done right blow the welds.

Hello understeer!

Welding the diff is good for drifting, that's about it.

I know 5 people who daily with blown motors, 3 who daily with leaky radiators, 2 who run no air filter hundreds who drive around with an over sized spoiler. Just cause people do it doesn't mean its recommended.

While I understand the reasoning behind it, unless I was going to just drift the car I would never weld it. To daily with it I'd just think of it as somewhat of a hazard.

Don't weld your diff that's along the same lines as "hey i can get 19psi out of my turbo by poking a hole in this vac line" Yeah great idea

Sounds like you just want a stock LSD then, which you already have in your turbo model.

Seriously this is a never-ending battle.

if your car is a GXL or T2 just leave it. I had a S5 GXL and both wheels spun together. Just use heavier weight gear fluid or shim your diff. Its cheap and effective.

Do they make a Mini Spool that would work with stock rear end. If they did that would be the better way to go if you wanted it to be cheap and still do it a semi-right way.

Weld the diff, banjo bolt the FPD, strip out the emissions, do the throttle body mod, get a timing light and advance the timing ahead of the line as far as you can, gut the cat, gut the interior, disconnect the power steering pump (but leave everything in), cut your springs, get your tires bald with burnouts and donuts, run pure water in your radiator, fill your gas tank full of alcohol, hand drill holes in your brake rotors with a cordless drill, wire the aux ports open, and then your care will be mad tite yo... for a few months.

Note: Don't actually do this. Btw, did I forget to destroy any car parts? And, yes, that's already enough info to destroy the engine 2-3 times over. I feel dirty.

a welded diff is ******* ghetto as ****.

Might as well weld the driveshaft to the diff and transmission as well.

Daily driving? hahaha. Driving on the street with a Welded diff is plain retarded. And if you have to make a turn in front of a cop, expect to get pulled over. chirp chirp chirp...

Save up $300 and get a T2 and be done with it.
