No guys i am sorry i am not Shiv Patak. My name is Mike and i am from MD, but going to school out here in Socal. I brought my car over here with me and sold it a year later. The DMV in MD is giving me a hard time and charging me $150 per day saying that i do not have insurance on my RX7, the thing i tried to tell them was that i sold it and returned the tags and registration to them. They still don't believe me, so that is why i need to get a hold of the owner of my old car. Thanks guys, please help any info would be great.

 

$150 a day huh? And I thought California led the nation in DMV money making schemes. As an aside, if you go to school here, aren't you a resident Califonicator? You should be sending that money to AHHHnold to help bail the rest of us out of this hole our last governator dug. Screw Maryland, we want our money. Don't make us ask again.

 

I had an issue like this with the CA. DMV when I sold my car to an out-of-state buyer (I even mailed in the liability form on top of the title too - WTF?). If you know the VIN, run a CarFax to prove that a new title was issued to the new owner in CA., make a copy of it, and mail it to the DMV in Maryland.

BTW, look on craigslist.org for CarFax lookups. People let you use their account for a couple bucks or so to help recoup the $20 they spend.

 

Send them a copy the release of liability form and makeshift receipt that was signed by you and buyer.
